Smile Family oriented fun in Southern California

Here are some family-oriented possibilities for things to do while in Southern California, before or after a cruise:

Are you into carousel rides? Have small children to keep amused while on your pre-cruise trip to Southern California? Here are some places to ride the horses (and giraffes and tigers…)

Griffith Park, 4730 Crystal Springs Dr., LA
Santa Monica Pier, 350 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica (www.santamonicapier.org)
Shoreline Village, 429 Shoreline Village Dr., Long Beach (www.shorelinevillage.com)
Valencia Town Center, 24201 W. Valencia Blvd, Valencia (www.valenciatowncenter.com)
Ventura Harbor Village, Harbor Blvd/Spinnaker Drive, Ventura (www.venturaharborvillage.com)
The last two are a bit of a distance away from the San Pedro/Long Beach area.

Here are websites for popular Southern California amusement parks:

    Adventure City, Anaheim www.adventurecity.com
Disneyland (also Calif. Adventure), Anaheim www.disneyland.com
Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park www.knotts.com
    Legoland, Carlsbad www.legolandca.com
    SeaWorld, San Diego www.seaworld.com
Six Flags Magic Mtn., Valencia www.sixflags.com
    Universal Studios, Universal City www.universalstudioshollywood.com

    Any additions?

On Highland which is off the 101 fwy you run into Hollywood blvd. where the Mall is where they do alot of filming; The Gromens Chinese Theatre; and the El Capitan theatre. Be careful down there as you need to stay in groups. Sorry about the spelling, but you can sign up for tours at Paramount Studios too. or request tickets for tape of a show.

If you have the time before you cruise to enjoy some of the things listed that is fantastic. I would recommend Magic Mountain and Sixx Flags if you love amusement parks. These are both great parks.

Actually Magic Mountain is part of Six Flags. The Six Flags property next to MM is Hurricane Harbor, which is a water park. You use the same parking facilities (there's a tram from the parking lots to the parks) and buy the tickets at the shared ticket office.
