Activities to Enjoy With Your Kids

I thought it might be interesting to ask:

What activities do you enjoy with your kids while cruising outside of the ship's youth program?

While I like to do my own thing and have the kids go to the youth program some of the time, we also really enjoy our family time together. Many of the shipboard activties are "all ages". So we did some activities together as a family.

    Hula Lessons (Daughter and I)
    Chess (DH and DS)
Production shows in the main theatre
    Board games brought from home.
    Dining
Sail Away Party and Fruit Buffet
    Line dancing
    On shore beach and touring
Dancing at the Captains Club party
viewing of arrival in port from observatin deck

I've promised to take my son to the Ballroom dance lessons next time as he really wants to learn some of the steps.

What else do you do on a cruise with you're kids outside of the youth program?

Our 9 year old wants to do things with the other kids, such as go swimming. She's at that age where she's not clinging to us (I guess the kids' program really helps there). On the last cruise, she did go to a couple of the shows (she loves them). She did take part in the ukelele class (with her own uke that we brought on board). The change on this last cruise was that she actually wanted to go into the ports with us. The prior cruise she wanted to stay aboard the ship while we went off the ship.

When our girls were still cruising with us, we always brought our "Travel Scrabble"!

It was useful in airports and we'd often play on the ship after dressing for "late seating" dinner.

Our younger daughter LOVED to go to BINGO which isn't our favoite ... but, we'd take her....

On Caribbean cruises we ALWAYS planned our shore excursions around things THEY wanted to do. You won't reget doing this! Spend that time with them while you can. Now, we do what WE want to do.

    So true LuLu

We do everything with our daughter, she spends a couple of hours in camp carnival each day, and it is usually while we get ready for dinner.

We also bring the travel scrabble and cards and play on the balcony or on deck, and do the shore excursions that are suited for families

One thing our girl doesn't want to do is homework. Her teacher gave the kids some review (with parent's permission) for over the winter break. The girl gave me a look when I took it out and wouldn't do it. When she's on vacation...
