Have your kids met friends onboard?

Have your kids ever met other kids their age while on a cruise, that they continued to, and maybe still do continue, to keep in touch with after the cruise?

Well havn't stayed in touch but kids made friends

I just finished editing the video from our recent cruise and I have many cute shots of the kids dancing with friends or playing ping pong with friends. They had a great time with the other kids on board, and I did even touch base with another Mom via another bulletin board when we were trying to both figure out what our next cruise would be. Ended up we are both taking different cruises to similar ports, but will be in ports on different days.

Yes, Alisa...and they have gotten along so well. Thank goodness, too, since it was on HAL and we cruised during non-school vacation times. As you know, HAL is not all that popular with the younger crowd as a rule.

Before the last cruise, I established a new email address for Jen to use, made some calling cards with her name and the email address for her to pass out to her fellow Pirateers, if she wanted to. One of them has sent some emails but Jen has been so busy with school, she hasn't had much of a chance to write back. And I keep forgetting as I usually don't check that address every day. I hope to get Jen to write her as she seemed like a nice girl.

On our Alaska cruise on Mercury in 2003 our grandson then age 14 met 4 other boys who all became best friends, my grandson is from Kona HI, one boy from Miami, one from NYC and one from Isreal. They did keep in touch by email for awhile but not any more. It was fun watching the boys as you would think they had know each other forever, not just a few days.

I've never really met anyone else on the cruise and became friendly with them. The friendliest I've become with other people was a couple who went on the hiking excursion with us in Dominica last summer. We'd say hi if we ever passed on the boat. That was about it. Other than that, I've never really made friends with anyway. We've always cruised with our own friends so I guess there was never really a need to meet other people since I was already cruising with friends.

My nephew, at that time age 13, met a nice girl from the mid-west that he actually kept in touch with, and the next summer, got his Dad to take him to visit relatives in the same state so he could go see her. It was just adoreable since my nephew tended to be shy. He was cruising with us on the Zaandam during Easter vacation.
I am sure it made the cruise much more memorable for him!

Yes, they have met and made friends with several people. Some which they still keep in contact with via email. It is great as they can see what other cruises their friends have gone on and then also onboard have someone to hang out with that has the same interests.

being only 15 and all i tend to make friends where ever i go and my parents used to worry about it but they dont anymore. my only suggestion from personal expierence is that try getting in touch with the other kids parents so its easier for the kids to hook up
