Taking other people's kids on a cruise

Have you ever cruised with someone else's kids in your cabin?

No, but we're considering taking some kids with ours next time. They would be in a different cabin. Not yet sure I want that extra responsibility.

I had a hard enough time last year when we had some kids over for a play date. Three girls from her class, along with a cousin (a girl the same age) and a younger brother. Next time, it'll have to be one kid tops.

    Thumbs up I have!

We have taken our daughters friend on a cruise, and in fact she is going with us again in August. Were there specific questions you wanted answered?
    I am here to help!

Yes I took my daughters friend with us. Since we left out of Vancouver BC I had to have a notarized statement saying I could take her out of WA and across the border. We had to have both parents sign it even though the Dad had custody. I think the cruise line needed it too.

That is my recommendation as well. Whenever you travel with someone elses child make sure that you have a notarized statement, this way there should not be any issues about kidnapping. I do this even for travel from one state to another.

I have a good parental authorization form, if anyone needs one.

This is a great topic to bring up to the top...lol...

If you are taking someone else's child away, whether it be out of the country or not, be sure to have a notarized letter from both their parents with the specifics of the trip in it. Also, have an inclusion of change of itineraries etc...date of the start of the trip and date of the end of the trip as well.

Also, they need to give written permission for you to have temporary guardianship, for medical reasons...if something should happen and the child needed medical attention, they have to give you permission to authorize any medical care.

Dolores pointed out something important, especially if you're bringing a grandchild or other relative, or bringing your child's friend.

Also, if you are divorced...you need a notarized letter from the other parent...this is primarily for cruises and going out of the country...
