* 7,840 pounds of chicken
* 3,870 steaks
* 28,730 shrimp
* 6,780 hot dogs
* 8,900 hamburgers

*Breakfast lover?*
* 54,800 eggs
* 1,210 gallons of fruit juice
* 73,180 bacon slices
* 2,540 pounds of coffee
* 1,420 gallons of milk
* 3,930 bagels
* 8,100 individual cereal boxes
* 27,250 slices of white bread
* 39,325 danish pastries
* 5,800 slices of french toast
* 6,300 pancakes

*Fruits and Veggies?*
* 20,870 tomatoes
* 23,600 potatoes
* 10,160 heads of lettuce
* 8,400 bananas
* 4,670 apples
* 1,875 cantaloupes
* 2,025 fresh pineapples

*Thirsty?*
* 34,360 cans of soft drinks

I am curious to know how many cans/bottles of beer are drank on a journey like that!
Thank you Carnival for these figures

Carnival Australia required parents go with their 18 -21 year old "children"?

Australia's largest pleasure cruise company said on Thursday it would continue to insist that young adult passengers be accompanied by parents even though the policy has been branded discriminatory.

Carnival Australia, a subsidiary of global Carnival Corp., demands that adults aged 18 to 21 are accompanied by a parent or guardian if they want to book one of a range of South Pacific cruises from Australian ports from November through January.

The policy aims to exclude large groups of Australian revelers who traditionally take raucous vacations to celebrate the end of the school or college year.

A rejected passenger lodged an age discrimination complaint with the Australian Human Rights Commission, the nation's arbiter of federal anti-discrimination law.

Carnival responded by asking the commission for an exemption from its so-called under-21 policy of the Age Discrimination Act, "to combat the risk of binge-drinking among young people in a holiday environment."

But the commission on Wednesday rejected the exemption application, leaving Carnival open to claims for damages from rejected passengers in the federal courts.

"The commission is not satisfied that unaccompanied under-21s pose a serious threat to the health, safety and security of passengers," Commission President Catherine Branson wrote in her ruling.

The policy "is inconsistent with and undermines" the law's aim of eliminating age discrimination in the provision of goods and services, she said.

Carnival spokeswoman Sandy Olsen said Thursday that the company, which owns and operates three P&O Cruises Australia and two Princess Cruises Australia ocean liners, would maintain the policy introduced three years ago in response to complaints about unruly young passengers.

"We have an overriding duty of care to our passengers and it's on that basis that we will continue to apply the policy," Olsen said.

"We believe it is a commonsense approach to managing group behavior," she added.

The company is examining the ruling and has not ruled out an appeal to the Federal Court.

An exemption would have protected Carnival from any further complaints from people who are denied passage because they are younger than 21.

Australian National University Law Professor Margaret Thornton said there was no limit to the amount of damages that a complainant could seek in the Federal Court for age discrimination.

Hello, I am new to this forum, and I may have this in the wrong:help:area. This will be my 8th cruise, and we are cruising on the Carnival Paradise, going on an oldies/rock & roll cruise, with "4" well known:thumb:entertainers/singers.

If you have ever been on the Paradise, would you give me your pros/cons of the ship? I have been on large/small ships.

This cruise will be going to Catalina Island, and Ensenada, Mexico. If you have been to either of these places, would you tell me what we can see/do in a "short" span of time?

*Tropical Storm Approaches Gulf Coast*

*NEW ORLEANS -- *Tropical Storm Ida has delayed the arrival of a new cruise ship in New Orleans.

The Carnival Triumph was expected to begin operations from the Port of New Orleans on Tuesday. But the port announced a one-day delay because the mouth of the Mississippi River had been closed to deep draft navigation.

The ship marks an expansion of Carnival Cruise Lines' presence in New Orleans. Port spokesman Chris Bonura said the Triumph is a larger ship and its addition of 7-day cruises will mark a return of that service to New Orleans that's lacked since Hurricane Katrina.

*Carnival Press Release*

NEW YORK, November 6, 2009 – In celebration of the launch of its newest, largest and most family-friendly “Fun Ship” ever, Carnival Cruise Lines announces that Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden will serve as godmother of the new Carnival Dream and will unveil the world’s largest children’s book in New York City today, along with a major, multi-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

New Yorker and mother of three, Harden will officially name the new ship when it makes its North American debut in New York on November 12, 2009. In honor of Carnival Dream’s much-anticipated arrival, the Tony Award-winning actress will unveil Carnival’s Big Book of Dreams – measuring 15.5 feet high by 20 feet wide – in New York City’s Rockefeller Center today and will conduct a special reading of the larger-than-life story to dozens of schoolchildren. Inspired by the imaginative dreams of children who sailed on Carnival Cruise Lines this spring, “The Dream Plucker of Perrysport” tells the tale of a group of young friends who find themselves on a unique adventure after they encounter a furry orange monster in a quest to remember their dreams. The book will remain on display at Rockefeller Center November 6 and 7 as part of a series of free, activity-filled Carnival “Dream Big” events for the whole family.

“As a mother and actress driven by the idea of dreaming big, I’m honored to take on this new role as godmother of Carnival’s largest-ever ship and to help bring the Big Book of Dreams to life for local children,” said Marcia Gay Harden. “I’m also inspired by Carnival’s dedication to support and encourage all kids to dream big through its partnership with St. Jude.”

During the three-year partnership with St. Jude, Carnival Cruise Lines’ goal is to raise $3 million to help achieve the hospital’s mission of finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. To support the hospital, under the theme “Care to Play,” Carnival is creating a number of fun, interactive on-board fundraising activities that will involve guest participation. Carnival will also donate hundreds of kid-sized copies of “The Dream Plucker of Perrysport” to the hospital.

“We’re excited to have a dream-worthy lineup of activities to celebrate the launch of the Carnival Dream, including the talented Marcia Gay Harden as godmother, and to bring kid’s dreams to life in the biggest children’s book ever,” said Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill. “We are also very proud and honored to work with St. Jude to further support its wonderful work and inspire the children and families of St. Jude to never lose sight of their dreams.”

“We are so fortunate to work with compassionate companies like Carnival,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., Chief Executive Officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. “Every dollar donated by Carnival and its guests through the Care to Play fundraising activities will help St. Jude continue its efforts in finding the cures and providing the treatments that will save children’s lives. On behalf of everyone at St. Jude, thank you.”
