    ~*~Explorer of the Seas April 5, 2009~*~

I've had this cruise booked for over a year now and tried not to get too anxious about it with over 600 days to wait from when I booked. Looks like it may be time to start a roll call so..........anyone else coming along? We've got a fantastic itinerary and I can't wait!

Hi Tasha! It is nice to meet you. I'm Janet and DH is Kent. We are sailing with my sister and her husband. It will be their first cruise and our 4th unless we manage to squeeze another one in between now and then but that is doubtful. We have an aft corner balcony cabin on deck 8 and my sister is on deck 9 (or is it 7?) in a hump cabin. Good luck on getting that jr. suite. This cruise has really sold fast! Unless people cancel before final payment it doesn't look to good for you to get one. This is our first RCI cruise. We have only been to San Juan and St. Thomas so we are really excited to see some of the islands on this itinerary.

We live in Indiana and my sister lives in Illinois. We are thinking right now that we will drive to NJ instead of flying. Air fares are ridiculous and with the added baggage fees it makes even more sense to drive. I keep checking air fares though in case they come down. Last year we cruised from NY on the Crown Princess and we were going to drive until the air fares dropped about a month before so I snagged a couple of cheap plane tickets. Of course, that was before all the baggage fees, etc.

Better save something to talk about next time, LOL.

    Welcome to CLF!!

HI JANET! NICE TO MEET YOU. MY NAME IS BETSY AND MY DH IS MONTY. THIS WILL BE OUR SECOND CRUISE WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN. IT IS MY FAVORITE CRUISE LINE SO FAR. OUR FIRST CRUISE WITH RCCL WE DROVE TO NJ. VERY EASY TO GET TO. NICE BIG PARKING LOT. MY HUSBAND WON'T FLY SO WE HAVE TO TAKE CRUISES THAT WE CAN GET TO BY CAR OR ANYTHING ELSE ON THE GROUND OUR LAST CRUISE WAS AUG 07 WHEN OUR DAUGHTER GOT MARRIED IN BERMUDA. WE WENT ON THE NORWEGIAN CROWN. AWFUL SHIP. OLD AND SMALL. THEY HAVE SINCE RETIRED IT. I REALLLY DON'T CARE MUCH FOR FREE STYLE CRUISING. I LIKE TO HAVE TO SAME TABLE EVERY NIGHT WITH THE SAME WAITER AND SAME PEOPLE..THIS SHIP IS AS BIG AS OUR LAST RCCL SHIP. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND VERY BIG. WHEN WE GET TO PUERTO RICO YOU MUST GO TO SENOR FROGS. ITS ALOT OF FUN. HAVE YOU BEEN THERE BEFORE? THATS WHERE WE WILL BE HEADING. WE GET THERE AT 3. MY HUSBAND ISN'T MUCH OF A SIGHTSEER. HE LIKES THE BEACH EVER THOUGH HE SITS IN THE SHADE.I WILL PROBABLY WAIT UNTIL DEC AND MAKE OUR EXCURSION RESERVATIONS. IN ST THOMAS WE ALWAYS MAKE OUR TOUR RESERVATIONS WITH GODFREY TOURS. HE IS VERY REASONABLE. I THINK IT IS $20 A PERSON.. GO ON HIS WEBSITE. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. WE HAVE TAKEN HIS TOURS 4 TIMES. YOU CAN GO TO HIS WEBSITE AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY UNTIL THE END OF THE TOUR. WE ENOUGH FOR NOW. I COU,D GO ON FOREVER. TALK TO YOU AGAIN.

Good morning Betsy! We did stop in San Juan on our Crown Princess cruise. We didn't plan an excursion that day and just thought we would wing it. It was excruciatingly hot and humid the day we were there. I thought I was going to die! We did end up going on a bus tour around here and there and got to see a lot of things in A/C comfort that way. San Juan was our least favorite port stop. We may not even get off the ship this next time, hahaha! I've heard good things about Godfrey's tours so we may try that in St. Thomas. We haven't booked any through RCI yet; haven't even really looked to be honest.

Our oldest son cruised on EOS for his honeymoon in 2004 and loved it. Sadly, the marriage didn't last but the good memories of the cruise did.

We don't snorkel or scuba dive or anything but we do enjoy the beaches.....DH more than me! He would be perfectly content to lay on a beach everywhere we go. I enjoy it but also like to see a little more of where we are visiting. I don't know why, but I think I'm most excited about Barbados for some reason. In a few more months I'll get serious with some research and figure out what to do on each island.

Good to talk to you. Maybe someone else will stumble in here, who knows?

    Hey y'all!

I'm glad you 2 have started to talk about your cruise.

Speaking of Barbados--Harrison's Cave is a good tour to take. It has been years since we were there but I remember it being one of the highlights. It was closed for awhile after some storm damage, but it's open now. Here is the link--> Harrison's Cave Barbados - Home
