I am too...we are doing Barcelona to Barcelona in November with Celebrity - a first Celebrity cruise for us.

I am excited about this trip because now I can go back and fill in the blanks on all the stuff I missed on previous med cruises.

It's a hard choice choosing among all the excursion options in that part of the world. For instance, how do you pick among things like the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, or Capri?? I want to see it all!! Now I can finally go to the Isle of Capri...which until now has been the one left off the list. Same goes for Rome...I have seen all the "usual" tourist must-sees and now I can head off the beaten path and maybe go visit a rural village or have lunch and lots of good wine in some Italian Vineyard outside Rome...or something similarly wonderful!

On one of our land trips we took the hydrofoil from Naples over to Capri...then the ski lift up to Ana Capri. Beautiful views from the top! Took a steamer from Capri over to Sorrento. That was an experience! We wanted to go to Pompeii, but it was closed the day we were in the area...don't remember why! Still haven't made it back there, but would truly love to see it up close & personal.

Pompeii is incredible, one of the best excursions I have ever done on any trip.

does anyone know anything about the Oceania line? also is there anyone going on this 10 day cruise? The ports are terrific. St Tropez, Portofino, Marseilles, Monte Carlo, Sardinia, Livorno, Sorrento, Amalfi, Rome. There is still availability on this cruise.

Oceania is an Upper Premium product. Their ships are the former Renaissance Cruises vessels, which are mid-sized ships with a capacity for 684 guests, 70% Verandah staterooms, and Butler Service. Their ships are destination focused. They boast the finest cuisine at sea and their Master Chef is Jacques Pepin. Dress code is Country Club Casual.
There are Culinary Demonstrations, Arts & Craft Classes, Dance lessons, & Featured Celebrity Guest Speakers. Before you visit each port of call, you can join your Cruise Director daily for a historical background on the culture, traditions and language of that day's destination.
Lots of entertainment on board, and there is a Spa
Their guests tend to be well educated and world travelers, past cruisers, and they enjoy cultural events, wines & arts.

My sister cruised on the R1 ship,
with Renaissance Cruises, now renamed Insignia with Oceania,, and loved the ship, service and everything on board.

Great Info

Thank you so much for such an informative commentary. we are excited about this cruise. Just wish we could hook up with some others on it so we could keep the cost down for the smaller private tours in the ports.
