Carol, when we use cruise line air we always do the deviation and choose the airline and the particular flights. This has been on Celebrity and Royal Caribean for our transatlantic cruises. I had assumed all the cruise lines would offer the same option.....do they not all offer this?
Char, I have seen that on Princess but just never paid any attention to it. I think it costs a bit more and I'm just always watching those $$$$$ (guess you could say that I am sometimes penny wise and pound foolish) tee hee
I've thought about it some since I noticed comments about that on CLF. I might look into it seriously for the next cruise we book. Of course Janice has to be willing to do it too. She is my cruising buddy as the men-folk in our lives aren't interested in cruising.

Carol, on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean the fee is waived if you are at the second tier of the loyalty programs. One of the past passenger perks
I guess I will have to look into that with Princess. I am a platinum member with them but can't remember seeing that listed.

Carol I've done the air devating on Princess. It was my first cruise with them that I did it. It was only $35 each flight and I got to say what airline and what flights so I could earn the miles.
Plus the card that earns me miles I use to put deposits for cruises on and use as my onboard account. Also I have a few friends that charge their home utility bills on their cards to get the miles (of course immediatly turn around and write a check for the CC bill for the amount they charged). You miles will add up quickly that way!

Very interesting Heather. I will definitely have to look into that the next cruise. I've often been disappointed they had booked on an airline I couldn't use my miles. Especially this last long one to the Baltic.Would have also liked to have changed the arrival time on that one.
I have a charge card that earns frequent miles, use it for all the cruises and other big charges, they do add up that way.
Thanks for the info

We are taking our first cruise on Crown Princess to the Baltic and Russia in June 2008 and are really looking forward to it. If anyone has done this cruise, we would be interested in hearing from you - what to see and do on the and other tips about the ship, etc. If anyone is going in June 2008 - it would be also good to hear from you!

Hey there
At which ports will you be calling? Maybe folks can give you suggestions if they know where you are going

If you have any questions about ports or the Baltic in general, I live here in St Petersburg and I would be happy to answer them.
Crown departs Copenhagen 3 times in June, the 9th, 19th and 29th and visits the most interesting cities in the Baltic. This the same route the favorite Star Princess used to take. From my travels I think 3 of the ports are particularly interesting; St Petersburg, Berlin/Warnemunde and Tallinn. Gdansk is also a favorite of mine. None compare to St Petersburg in my opinion but then that is why I moved here from San Francisco, another favorite port city...call me biased;>)
