Eurodam Upgrades

We booked a repositioning cruise in April We paid for an Aft Suite on the 5th deck. They wanted to know if we wanted to be put on a list for a free upgrade. But, they said they would move us without asking us if an upgrade was available.

Our cabin is a SC and an upgrade would be a SB or SA. The agent said the room would be a bit bigger, but not have the wrap around balcony on the rear of the ship.

She suggested that we hold onto the aft suite as they were hot items? I opted not to be on the list for the upgrade which would be midship on the 7 deck.

Any thouthts.

We have sailed on the Eurodam -- and a bunch of other "dam" ships.

The aft cabins -- we have no interest in them.

The cabins are smaller even though the balcony is larger.

We prefer the larger cabin -- SA - near the Neptune Lounge. JMO

Being in the aft also means you have a longer walk to the Neptune Lounge, Crow's Nest -- most everything.

Which ship are you on -- Zuiderdam??

Noticed that you mentioned repositioning cruise.

If you are going from Ft Lauderdale to Seattle or Vancouver -- select a cabin on the port side - better for the Panana Canal.

I have always like the aft Cabins , They are usually bigger than the nornal cabins . I have a SA suite on my next cruise, but I love to have AFt Cabin
I like watching the wake of the ship.

Actually the aft cabin itself is smaller while the verandah is larger.

On our Alaskan cruise last year on the Westerdam we had friends that were in an SB aft cabin. There was hardly any space bettween the end of the bed and the sofa. They had a corner cabin -- the verandah was deep but the side portion -- in order to use the 2 lounge chairs, you had to angle them.

I do not recommend an aft cabin for a Panama Canal cruise as you can not see all the workings of the mules.
