Phil - the photos are amazing. I still have a very hard time realizing that we are actually WATCHING our ship being built. The concept is "futuristic". (Guess I'm showing my age with that comment!)
Sharon - Have a great trip. It sounds simply wonderful. And yes...what is a Denali Lottery?
Each year the park service allows a limited number of independent vehicles to travel the Denali Park Road after the buses have stopped running. Just a few days in September. Winners of the purchased lottery ticket get the permit and I'm sure a wonderful drive. Sharon, I hope the weather is good for you
Sorry, I don't check in here as often as I should!
I am absolutely overwhelmed at the generosity and kindness of so many people I've encountered because of this Denali Road Lottery. (Thanks, Phil, for filling in the blanks about the Road Lottery.) We were really distraught about maybe not being able to drive in any further than the first small section of the park -- our rented RV is not allowed because it is too long, a rental car would not be covered insurance-wise because of the gravel road etc. etc. I decided to "out" my problem on a couple of the other websites where I post and -- I am still amazed -- several good Samaritans came to our rescue. One offer came from a poster on flyertalk who lives in Anchorage and would enjoy chauffeuring us for the day (he had planned to enter the lottery, but forgot about submitting the entry in time) and another from tripadvisor is going to meet us "just to say hi" on the evening before we can enter the part, and stick around at the campgrounds (tenting) "just in case" our other ride doesn't work out. Can you believe the helpfulness?? I have really been moved to tears!
Now all we have to do is finish packing -- OMG, packing for 8 weeks of travel in 3 major temperature zones. Good that Princess has anytime dining so that noone will notice if I wear the same things often. (Luckily Princess does have self-service laundromats. Why can't X?)
I'll try to post when possible but, just in case... I'll be back at the beginning of November and will catch up then.

Hi, guys,
I decided to come over and join you. Have a great trip, Sharon. I look forward to wonderful pictures of lots of stories when we sail together on the Equinox.
Hi Sheila and welcome. We're always glad to have another enthusiastic cruiser to talk to. You won't see many posts from me for a while. I'm sitting here in my hotel room typing this. We're in Barcelona and will be boarding the Constellation on Tuesday for a transatlantic cruise to New York.
Sharon, I love your story and about the kindness of others. I'm sure you're going to have some wonderful stories to tell us when you return and I hope a lot of pictures!
Sharon, only a couple more days now sounds like a fabulous trip, have a great time!
Garry, I know you are having a great time already. If we weren't doing a TA in "60" days, I would really be jealous.
Welcome to Sheila.
Hi Andrew, how many days left now ?? Roof to Hubble!
