Oh, I bet there are some upset people who booked thinking they were on the inaugural and already have hotels, excursions and flights booked.
Garry
I am one of them - I am on vacation and left before the announcement was made and not returning until a week after the deadline to switch. I found out about it through message boards today. So now instead of resting and relaxing, I am having to call family to see if our family obligations can be changed for Thanksgiving (it is our year to host the family), and then try to decide what we want to do.
I only booked the 12/14 cruise because it was the maiden voyage - even though I knew that you pay a premium price for the pomp and circumstance of a maiden voyage. With it being a regular cruise now, I don't know if I even want to go - at least at the price we paid. (we did book this cruise on the day presale bookings opened for Captain's club members last year).
We have cruised Celebrity exclusively since 1992. We probably haven't cruised as many times as a lot of people, but for all the cruises we could schedule and afford (about 1 per year), we have booked with only Celebrity.
I am absolutely heartsick about this news and doubly so because if it wasn't for the boards we would have found out too late to switch if this is what we want to do. We are debating between switching, keeping the date, or just outright cancelling.
We broke down too. However we're on Nov 30. Frankly, I was very surprised that this flew. I was willing to do a 2B, but DH suggested a C1. Who am I to argue.

Bobbie, we're together again . . .now to convince M&T. I'll call and leave her a VM tomorrow.

Garry, I thought long and hard about the date, but the later one just cuts into December too much for me (my neighbor, too). The week after Thanksgiving is always an OK time for me to be gone. Wish you guys could have made it a week earlier! But you'll have a great time with Joanie and Karyn. Elizabeth is going on 11-30 too, isn't she?

Same situation about the dates for us. Just easier right after Thanksgiving before other client commitments kick in. Now for a hotel on points and transport to the pier.
M&T are supposed to leave on Thursday. She said she investigated and they need to use a timeshare instead. We talked (by voice, no less) yesterday.
We debated about one of the Solstice "pre-inaugural" sailings, but at the moment we just have too many deposited cruises -- Diamond Princess 32 day Whittier-Bangkok in September (final payment due end of this week, so I guess we're really going if there is no problem with the Chinese visa), Radiance of the Seas Valparaiso-Buenos Aires in March followed by MSC Opera transatlantic from Brazil back to Germany in April (these two are ??), then EQUINOX , and in February 2010 our farewell to Mercury in the Caribbean. Think that's enough for the moment!

Sharon, which sailing are you on in March? We're on the Radiance March 13th sailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Valparaiso, Chile. As far as I'm concerned, you can never have too many cruises booked.
Lee, I didn't know it ever got that hot in Canada. We're in the North Carolina mountains and it's supposed to be in the mid-90s today with high humidity. I'm staying indoors! Thank goodness, the powers that be are predicting a break in this heatwave by mid-week!

We have very hot and humid summers here. When I lived in Nova Scotia, it was more akin to what Boston would get but we get serious heat in the summer and nutty cold in the winter. For some reason, we stay even though the airfare to a cruise is outlandish!!!
I am a very good packer...can't carry bags that are too heavy, but I can try. Afraid i take up a little room, but I am quiet. Can I be your valet? I'm so jealous....your schedule is wonderful.
Would love to hear all about your trips on Equinox.
