I think it's more than the "initial blush". Seems as though we're having an early fall and all have fallen off the tree.
Is it only me that had no plans for this holiday weekend? Oh wait....I cooked and am cleaning the bedroom. Guess that counts as "plans". Hope all had a nice, safe, pleasant weekend.
Bobbie
Bobbie,
My plans are even less exotic. I'm at work! We had our long weekend last week in Canada so I'm sitting in my office, staring out the window at gun metal gray weather, dreaming of drinks of the day.
Quick greetings from beautiful, sunny Washington, DC. Many thanks to all of you for your good trip wishes. They must have worked as we are having a wonderful time. Four days in NYC - including 2 shows and walking our feet off (and seeing some friends whom I haven't seen in about 30 years), then 2 days in Richmond, VA and now here. It seems as though we've been gone from home for about a month, and it's only 6 days. Suitcases are FULL (shopping lists completed) ... guess that means we have to go home now.
As to the new decision of American Airlines, I think we'll probably all need to take a bunch of coins with us on the planes in the future. They'll probably institute a charge for using the WC.

I imagine they'll start having more services they'll charge for. They say it's only a matter of months before planes will be wired for cell calls (YUCK!!!), internet, etc. I'm sure they will charge through the nose for those things
Personally, I LOVE the the ban on cell phones on planes. I'm so sick of having to listen to people who have to make that one last call before the door closes or as we taxi to the gate and have to talk as though they are using soup cans and a string instead of modern technology. Most of these people know that everyone is looking at them with daggers, but really don't care.
We were just talking about the number of miles we will probably fly this year and said that we may not fly as many as we had in the past. However, it's not really important to maintain a decent frequent flyer level in order to be able to check luggage. So it looks like that trip to Singapore will be on again this year.
Oh well....I guess that's progress!?!
Hope all had a great holiday weekend. Ours wasn't too exciting. However, our 80 degree weather of yesterday is now 47...and that's just fine with me.
Bobbie, where do you live? We're having wonderful weather here in the North Carolina mountains. Highs are in the 70s and lows in the lower 50s. That's perfect weather!
I shudder to think of the use of cell phones on airplanes. Let's hope that it's so expensive most people won't use theirs. Of course, I wouldn't mind being able to use the internet on long flights. That way, we could keep up with CLF.
Bobbie/Garry, they've started to put radio recievers on the commuter trains here so that floks can gab away...even when we're in a tunnel 200 feet UNDER SAN FRANCISCO BAY!!!!
Oh, and weather here is seasonable...in the low '70's in Walnut Creek.

We're outside of, Garry. Yesterday and the day before it was 80 and humid. Last night a front came thru and, fortunately, I closed most of the windows otherwise we would have been ice this morning.
I really don't mind the weather. I'm not a big fan of hot and humid. I would think your weather in the NC mountains is just about perfect, although I have been thru Ashville in some nasty weather.
Andrew - it took me many years to understand SF weather. My DH grew up there and always talked about the "fog". I never thought that "fog" meant a misty rain until we were walking to dinner one evening and I was wet. He thought it was wonderful. To each his own, I guess.
Have a wonderful cruise Andrew and say HI to Phil for me.
Sadly, I'm not on the cruise, just on the owls "West Coast Fiesta del 2008"
AND, rumor has it, a certain mystery man may be able to join us for dinner!!!!! The only promise you have to make is to confirm that he DOES exist to all other owls...otherwise this whole wedding thing is terribly sad and slightly "Miss Haversham!"
Good morning owls...
Check in later,
Andrew
