Hi we are sailing on the 28 march from fort lauderdale to pananma my husband and two older daughters in their twenties and two friends who have never cruised before, hope they enjoy it as much as us, we are travelling from great britain we love to cruise out of the states. you make us very welcome when we holiday out there. Counting the days till our crise we are having a few days before in fort lauderdale.

Going through the Canal?>

We dont go through the panaama canal but view it then onto Cartenga and hondorus, are you cruising soon

See you are on Oasis still getting use to this site. we did explorer of the seas to the carribean last easter brilliant sailing out of New york. got a shiver up our spines when we saw the manhatten skyline [ powerful]

I did the explorer twice as the port is sorta local (2 hour drive). That was one of the best parts, did you see the tear drop memorial?

Yes we did hope they add some more brick walls to hold some plants as it will add to a beautiful tribute, we have been around ground zero oh we all never thought how we would feel it was very emmotinal we said a prayer. Just getting ready to return to high school next week had six weeks break brill.

Yes you are correct about ground zero. I am lucky enough to not have been involved or any family or friends be directly involved, but when I last visited the site, I get chills. I still catch myself looking for them in the skyline... So, sad!'

I am glad you enjoyed the memorial... Now that the crown in the liberty is open, I suggest that. On your next visit to NY that is.

I did the crown when I was a kid, it was cool. Just going to the Statue is really just cool.

I liked the Bayonne port, sad no one else sails out of there.

Until they get around to adding a new and wider set of locks to the Canal, nothing the size of the Solstice class ships will be moving between the Atlantic and Pacific without going around S. America!

The absolute MAXIMUM beam they will/can put through is 106'. Celebrity's Millennium class ships all make it with almost no room to spare at all 105.6'. I have a photo going through on Infinity with my foot hanging over the edge of Deck 4 to give some perspective -- the gap was smaller than the length of my foot!

The new Solstice class ships like Equinox have 121' beams -- too big to fit!

The new "dig" began back in 2007, and is supposed to provide 180' width at the bottom, and 160' width at the top. They figured at the onset that it would run them $5 billion to build the new facilities.

I'm guessing that Celebrity won't have something built that is too wide for the new one by the time it is completed, but then again, it wasn't originally slated to be finished until 2014.
