    Linda,

I don't know what cava tour you are talking about, but Marytutor has a tour from Barcelona that I can heartily recommend. (I am prejudiced, because we used the same guide for that tour last year and recommended him to her).

The tour includes a tour/tasting at the Cordoniu winery (which is one of Spain's leading producers of cava), the monastery at Montserrat and lunch at a very non-touristy restaurant. We had a wonderful time last year and are using the same company again, but going out in a different direction.

I'm on the fence about Select dining. On Princess, we felt that the wait staff was not very motivated to provide good service if they thought they would probably never see you again. I missed the waiters who knew my name and beverage preferences, who made sure that we always had full water glasses and brought coffee at the end of the meal without asking after the first night.

What have your experiences been like on Royal Caribbean?

    Hi Linda, and Welcome!!

We also did MTD on the Jewel of the Seas TA in May and loved it. We had the same wait staff every evening (that is, after the second evening, because our wonderful first night waiter came down with measles!!), although different tables in the same area. Our server was a super competent young lady from Trinidad and Tobago (who had interrupted her university studies to work for a couple of years) and she was excellent. Our Asst. Waiter had our ice tea ready for us as soon as he saw us coming to our table. We were able to have conversations -- or not -- with neighboring tables, but weren't "forced" to make 2 hours of small talk every evening. In short, it was PERFECT!

I think we'll stay with late dining till we hear some reports about how Select is going.

Has anyone done the Cava tour in Barcelona? It's our anniversary so I'd like to do something fun, but we've spent some time in Barcelona in the past and would like to get out of the city.

    Welcome Linda

I am sort of a newbie to these boards but everyone here is great... I always wanted to know what a frubal was but glad you asked.

Woohoo -- we got our Select Dining booked and made our reservations for 7:30 each evening. Table for 2 (didn't agree to sharing, but would certainly enjoy a dinner or two, planned spontaneously, with members of the great group here on CLF).

Sharon, that's great. We have 7:45. Who knows, our tables may be next to each other.

    Select Dining

The reason I chose to be seated with others is even if you select a table for two you are only separately by a few inches from your neighbors so it hardly makes a difference.

    Esther

As I stated on the other board, would love to share a table, like Sharon for a night or two.

    Garry,

Terry and I just booked this tour also. Sounds like a good one.

We might need a nap when we get back after the wine before lunch time.
