Sharon - Was thinking of you when I saw the fires on the news. Glad to hear all is safe for you.

We've had some very hot, record breaking weather here in Vancouver and BC last week. Many forest fires in the interior and up near Whistler/Blackcomb - the home of the 2010 Olympics. And last Thursday, the hottest day of all at 95, we had a power outage all night and couldn't run any fans to cool off our condo. Had to take cold showers in the dark!!

Great shots Garry. It was earlier this morning I caught that one. I think she'd just arrived because you can still see the rings on the water where she's "spun" round. I was hoping to catch her as she rounded the bend, but was up a little too late for that Vicarious cruising indeed

Chris, I had my thumb surgery this past Monday. The doctor said I can remove the bandages on Saturday and get it wet. I'm so ready for that!

Nothing more annoying than trying to wash your hair with a plastic bag over one hand!

I think you'll find you're glad you got it done. Your thumb joint will certainly thank you for it. The only nuisance I had was the dumb splint/bandage while it was on. Didn't realize how many things that thumb is there for!

Never did hurt at all, even right after the surgery. Was kind of surprised by that, but the doc said he put in some kind of 12 hour super-number goo when he wrapped it all up. It worked.

I've got my full range of motion back without that annoying snapping at the joint. The doc advised I shouldn't do anything radical like swing a golf club for 6 weeks, but apart from that, no restrictions.

My friend Chuck from Anderson, SC that you met on our last trip through your neighborhood now has the same problem. He got the cortisone shot and it lasted him the better part of 6 months before it started acting up again. Guess he's going to have to deal with it, too.
