Actually, it's felt really good since day 1. Then again, I haven't been trying to do anything with it! The splint comes off for good tomorrow and then we'll see what's what. The doc said it would be 6 weeks before I could pretend we hadn't messed with it, though.

Chris, hope everything goes well tomorrow and your thumb returns to normal.

There is a website run by an American who moved to Rome a few years ago, ( Ron in Rome! - Assistance, Advice, and Thoughts on Visiting & Living in Rome! ) that I found while exploring the Italian train system. It was so rich in nuts & bolts information on public transportation in and around Rome that I started following his blog.

He offers a full 8 hour walking tour for 100 Euros (plus entry fees) for two, 150 for four and 180 for six people (the max). So I asked him to design a walking tour (using public transit when needed) covering the following sights that we would like to see:

    • The Pantheon (Because it is the Pantheon)
    • Piazza Navona
    • San Pietro in Vincoli (Since we aren’t going to see the Pieta at St Peter’s, I would like to see the Moses)
    • Largo de Torre Argentina. (There is also a Cat Sanctuary nearby that is open between 1200 and 1800)
    • San Luigi dei Francesi for the Caravaggios, especially The Calling of St Matthew
    • Campo di Fiori
    • Chiesa Nuova (Santa Maria in Vallicella) for the Rubens
    • The Vittoriano
    • Trevi Fountain
    • the Borghese Chapel of the Basilica D Santa Maria Maggiore
    • Raffaello mosaic dome of Santa Maria del Popolo

It is admittedly, a highly personalized tour, but I thought I would offer it up in case any other CLFers has similar tastes, has already been to Rome and visited the big name sights or just wants to do something a little different on Wednesday, Nov 4th.

    Hi Dave,
In case you - OR ANY OTHER CLFers are looking for rental cars on the Canary Islands, check out Car hire Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma... Car rental in Canary Islands We have rented with them several times for one day rentals (you may need to enter rental on Nov. 12 and return on Nov. 13) and have been happy with them. They are located right at the Ferry terminal next to where we dock (click on Santa Cruz Muelle for Tenerife) We've got ours reserved -- so we can get home to do the laundry.

BTW, if anyone is looking for rental cars on Tenerife for our day there, try Car hire Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma... Car rental in Canary Islands or www.economycarrentals.com -- approx. €32 - 38 including full-collision insurance, etc. You'll probably get an error message if you put it 8 AM - 5 PM. Just enter 8 AM - Nov. 12th to 8 AM - Nov. 13th.

Dave, if you're planning to rent a car, I would suggest you do it now since the Navigator will be in port too! Another choice is to join us on the 4x4 excursion. There are a lot of us doing that in Tenerife and it sounds like fun. We've done this in the Azores and it was a really good excursion.

Sharon, what's the directions to your house in case we want to stop by for some lemonade.

Sharon - thanks for the tip. Will decide on plans pretty soon.

Garry - thanks for the suggestion. Could be a lot of cars driving all over the place.

A cruiser from Germany just posted these pictures over on the DS. They are pictures of the interior of the Equinox and I knew you'll all like to see them.

Thanks Garry, they are bookmarked on my browser. Will two weeks be enough time to really explore this ship?

Susan, I'm not sure. All I know is we will not be bored on this cruise and will have enough restaurants to satisfy even the most delicate palate.

    Hi:

I finally got a sort of answer to my question posed many weeks ago:

    Dear Mr. Stern:

Thank you for your email. We apologize for the delay in our response.

The following speakers have been scheduled to lecture on your cruise:

    Smithsonian speaker Smithsonian speaker
Alice Weiser People Profiling and CSI Analysis
    Lynn Loscutoff Watercolors

Mr. Stern, thank you for choosing Celebrity Cruises.

    Sincerely,

    Constance Wood
    Customer Service Representative

    Love to know more?!

WOW! What were the odds that someone with the name Smithsonian Speaker would wind up working for the Smithsonian giving lectures?
