I e-mailed Ronald on 6/1/ The info@holiday address gave me an error and I have not heard anything back from him after using the info@masca address.
Just so we don't get locked out, I went ahead and booked two tickets on TF21 4x4 excursion. There was just one tour offered and it departs at 8:00 AM. That's pretty early, but we can sleep for the next 5 days.
If we can get in touch with him and arrange something, I can always cancel this.
Bob this sure is a tricky cruise for excursions. I am with you....use your business sense and think something might be off here in the customer service arena.
I can do 8am. I hope Erin from Solstice is on board here on Equinox as a transfer for the Early Morning Stretch at 7:30am. That's the early morning fitness version of the later in the day Martini Bar to keep both ends of the candle lit.
We are on it too. Booked it several day ago, just to be on the safe side. I'll have the camera batteries charged and my hair will look ready to be wind blown.
Anyone want to do the Camel Ride in Lanzarote?
That's great Cheryl I'm sure camels get an unfair press, but I still don't fancy the idea of riding on the back of one. I'm going to have a look at the other tours in Lanzarote. It may well be Helen and I will leave the decision until we get on the ship. There are a number of tours to look at the lunar landscape which is probably my main tour interest there.
Has anyone ever done a cruise line winery tour? I see one of those and have done tours at wineries, but not one with a cruise line, so any feed back would be helpful. But I do think I might be on the camel.
Cheryl, Bob rode a camel in Egypt so am not sure he'll want to do that again. Me? No thank you! I'm with Phil. I have more interest in seeing the lunar landscape.
We've done a lot of tours to wineries, but I don't think we've ever done one through the cruise line. I can't imagine what that would be like. We've always had small groups.

Garry - The tour we are looking at, at least the one the cruise line offers, means our paths will probably cross then. The tour we are looking at is to Timanfaya National Park and along the way and while there the lunar landscape is part of the panorama. I am sure it is going to be a whirlwind tour since there is a stop at a winery too.

We did the camel ride in Lanzarote on our last transatlantic and had a ball. You don't actually ride on the back but rather on seats on each side. It was a lot of fun. If I can find the picture of us on the camel ride, I will post it.
The landscape was used in scenes from Stars Wars.

Karen, thanks. That sounds a bit more like it. If you find the pic it would be great if you would post it.

Karen...thanks for the feedback. We (DH and I) are pretty primed for this one.
You form a line of couples with the heavier person on one side. Then you are led by the kneeling camels- one person on each side. You have to sit in the seats at the same time and they go down the side with the lighter person and hang bags of sand(?) to even the weight.
Then the camel stands up - be sure that you are holding on. The camel getting up or kneeling down is the worst part of the tour - if you are unprepared. They do have wire muzzles on the camels and some have burlap sacks over their mouths (the spitters).
We are still on vacation and I only have my laptop - I'll have to check if hubby's laptop has a copy of the picture. If not I will be able to post it next week.

Interesting, Karen. I'm looking forward to seeing a picture when you're able. I have more interest in something like that than in straddling one, plus it would be fun to do with someone else.
