    Chris,

That's great. I totally missed your response the first time. Garry and I look forward to seeing you and Charlene again.

    Check back to 4/11/09.

One thing I'd hope is that Patrick finds as nice a place to eat as he did the last time. Both of the tours you arranged last year had great food!

    Hi all,

I (actually, DH) finally was able to reach Ronald Bauer a couple of hours ago about the excursions for Tenerife.

As you've already discovered, his website is non-functioning (probably because he has no time to update it or keep it running, I suspect). He does have 2 eMail addresses that are accurate and they are: info@holiday24.com and info@masca.eu A mail to either of them will certainly reach him.

He is able to accomodate groups of up to 19 passengers (or less) with any of his own vehicles. For a larger group -- which I am sure noone wants -- he would be able to obtain a larger bus. We made him aware of the fact that after the stop on Tenerife, there are several sea days and that it is absolutely NECESSARY to be back in Santa Cruz ontime. He is certainly able to assure you that you can arrange to be back at the ship whenever you decide. We did tell him that Hugo and I will also be on the ship, and we have no desire to incur the wrath of any unhappy tour guests of his.

If you should want to contact him and ask questions or make plans, you can use either of the eMail addresses above (or call him on Tenerife at 0034 922 86 41 06 - New York time + 5 hours)

    Hope this helps,
    Sharon

Anyone working on a Tenerife tour, please remember that DH and I are interested as long as it's not the 4 x 4. Just not for us.

Garry and I would like to do a true 4X4 where we go off road. I will be happy to contact Ronald to see if he offers that (and definitely NOT in a bus or enclosed vehicle).

How many people would be interested? I don't want to bother is there are less than 8-10 of us.

If Ronald doesn't do 4x4 vehicles, Bob, please let me know and I will contact him for a non 4x4 trip in a small vehicle. Maybe a van that holds 8-10 for those like Bobbie and Ed who don't want to do off-roading. Perhaps he has vehicles and drivers that can do both.

So one way or another, Sharon, someone will be in contact with Ronald! Thanks for making contact for us.

Bob, I could be wrong, but I'm not sure if there is any off roading allowed in the area around Mt Teide. It's a Natiional Park and I would think limited by this fact, but perhaps Sharon can advise.

I have to honestly say -- I don't know -- but I think you are probably right, Phil. I know that you are allowed to hike where you like, but I really don't think vehicles are allowed off road. You are definitely not allowed to take any rock or lava "samples" with you. That, of course, doesn't mean that some don't do it.

I really have no idea if Ronnie offers any sort of off-roading experience -- I think not, but he may know someone who does. I have seen "jeep safaris" travelling through the hills on the island. The problem with that may be getting to the meeting place. I'll see what I can find out.

Anyway ... you all enjoy Tenerife while we are doing our laundry!

    P.S. - 30 minutes later ..

I've found listings for the following jeep safari companies:

    Tamaran - Index
Tenerife Sunshine For Excursions, Holiday Rentals, Flights and Information on the beautiful Island of Tenerife

Another company, which was highly regarded by previous guests, has gone out of business -- Freebird.
Just a "heads-up" -- be wary of making a large deposit for any excursion. Many companies in touristic areas are closing without any advance notice. This is especially true for Tenerife and the other Canary Islands.

    Hello Bob,

Tommy and I would definitely be interested. Just let us know when details have been set.

    thanks,
    Esther
