Hi everyone from beautiful Tuscany! We arrived here in Arezzo this morning and have a beautiful Villa. We are surrounded by grape, apple, pear, and peach orchards and the weather is perfect. We are definitely "Under the Tuscan Sun!" Last night we had an evening tour in Rome that was a lot of fun. Some of our travelers had a few problems with their flights but that's all behind us now. Bob, Tom and Joanie have gone to get our rental cars and tomorrow we'll start exploring. Those of us who didn't go see about the cars are sitting here enjoying a couple of bottles (red and white) of wine which is made from their grapes.
We're jealous. One of your sons is under about a foot of snow, and the other ... well, more like four feet from what I'm hearing so far! Shoveling is the price a person pays for living up in the foothills.
Up our way, we've only had about 10" or so. Hard to tell since we've got bare spots and drifts. Should start the melt-down tomorrow.
Stay warm and dry, and see what you can do to shoo the rain away for our arrival in Rome, will you? Right now (understanding that things change moment by moment this far out), they've got us scheduled for a little rain on the 3rd and 4th, and a soggy departure on the 5th. Since you're there and all, we're putting you in charge!
Hi everyone. Safe travels to you. We're having a marvelous time and the weather has cooperated so far. We've been in the upper 60s and tonight we're going to be in the 30s. Yesterday we visited Cortina and today Seina, both beautiful walled cities. My feet hurt from all the walking.
Every day gets us closer to being together. We are looking forward to to that!
Garry and the entire Arezzo group - continue having a wonderful time and arrive safely in Civitavecchia.
We are now winding down and almost ready to leave. Hope that AirBerlin takes a little pity on us -- after all, we did buy a ticket for a 3rd seat! Not easy packing for a 6 month trip with a total -- for 2 people -- of 60 kgs. Why do I continue planning these trips with a gazillion segments, climates, and methods of travel??
Tomorrow noon we're off to Düsseldorf Airport and we fly to Rome at 4:30 P.M. Hope to be at the Mecenate Palace by 8 PM or 9 or 10.
Has anybody heard from Susie and Larry? Hope they are able to join the fun.
Wishing everyone a safe and comfortable journey.
See you all on Thursday ... at the latest.

We are heading out tomorrow and I have just a few last minute things to get into the bags and then we should be good to go. It will not be a rushed day and I am looking forward to that idea...Vacation...ahhhh....here we come
I can't wait to get on board Thursday and see every body. I hope I don't start to choke up like I usually do when I step on board...this might be a big one!
I know others have been on Solstice and know the ship a bit more, but for me it's going to be a new thing stepping on and not knowing where to head off to first.
Certainly a good reason to hop on early. Given the general layout, it's still "food aft, entertainment front, bars everywhere", but the specifics sure are different. It was of some interest that they opted not to include an aft window for the dining rooom, and instead to put the galley area aft of the dining room on these ships - a break from the Century and Millennium ships.
Well, it's Sunday, and there will be an aircraft waiting for us somewhere tomorrow morning, so it's time to finish up the laundry and actually get serious about putting things into the suitcases. Yesterday I gathered up all the plants from around the house and put them into their big black plastic cement mixing tubs in the breakfast nook area. Fill them 1" with water and let our daughter only water twice while we're gone. Dog Sophie hasn't seen the suitcases yet, but has become mighty suspicious about the plant gathering. She's off to doggy camp this afternoon since we have to be out of here early in the morning tomorrow.
I don't have a bottle of Sancerre worthy of a trip across the Atlantic, but I'm sure I can find you something aboard ship to toast our meeting once again! See you in a couple of days.
Good morning,
Just wanted to let you know that we will see you on the ship... after a lot of talks with my brother and Kathi, we have decided to come, knowing that we will be near an airport until we leave the Canary Islands. Not an easy decision to make, but I am looking forward to meeting some of you for the first time and seeing many of you again. For anyone who is still home, safe travels and we will see you onboard.
Take care,
Susie
