I met someone who was on Empress a few month ago. She was disappointed that the JS's don't have bath tubs, and she thought there should have been more amenities (shampoos, etc) that she had come to expect on other RC ships. She made no complaints about the food or the itinerary. She also didn't mention anything about noise, but I will try to find out from her if she remembers anything.

Keep in mind that this is all second hand info. Unless you really need a bathtub, I would just enjoy!

    Paul,
I just sailed on this ship March 11, 2005. We were out of San Juan for this one. We had junior suite #9684. It was a cabin at the back of the ship. We didn't have a cabin above us, but we did have the rock wall. It wasn't so bad but I wouldn't like to get this one again. Mainly because people up on that deck lean over the rail and can see right onto the balcony, we had cigarettes and other debris thrown on our balcony. Also, make sure you have nice clean lounge chairs on the balconys. Ours weren't and I complained immediately. They took lounges from the pool deck. As far as balconys go, this was pretty small. The cabin was fine. Pretty roomy, more of a square rather than the usual rectangular shape. No tub, but the bathroom was fine. It also wasn't any bigger than the regular cabins. I guess since it was a smaller and older ship is the reason.
We didn't really hear too much noise in the cabin though, which was nice. The ship is small also so you don't have to walk a mile to get to the back of the ship where we were. We enjoyed the cabin. The food was very good, no complaints really. The crew was very nice and always helpful also. Room service was pretty fast and good. We would sail on this ship again, but only if it's out of the US, not San Juan again. We were the minority on that ship. 98% were from PR and the majority of everything was in spanish, even our room itinerary each day. I had to call about it all the time. So sailing from Ft. Lauderdale should be better. We liked the ship alot actually, even though we prefer a bigger boat. It was very nice.
    Andrea
