Really looking forward to sailing on the Emerald in March. Our last ship, the Sun, was also built in Italy, and the warmth of the main areas with Italian marble stairs, etc. was really nice. From pictures I've seen of the interior, the Emerald looks spectacular.

There is more to see & do in St Lucia, so I'm not sure why they switched to Dominica instead,.....well, other than to help the economy in Dominica, which is a much poorer nation.

That's so funny, I'm going to be on Emerald in December 08 and I thought I was upset that they changed Dominic to St Lucia.

You said in your post I quoted that they switched St Lucia for Dominica. This post you say they switched Dominica for St Lucia. I assume you got your thoughts crossed.

Hello everyone,
I will be going to Fort Lauderdale on Fri, 10/26-10/27 for the Celebration of the Emerald Princess coming into Lauderdale. It is really going to be quite an event and I will send a report and hopefully some pictures when I get back. It is an overnighter onboard but we will be pierside the whole time. We will be coming off on Sat. so the Oct 27th cruise can embark. My husband and I are going to sail on the Emerald Princess on Dec 16th, over Christmas. I look forward to giving you info about the ship. We are also celebrating the Costa Fortuna coming to Lauderdale, on Nov. 17th. It is a very busy time for us!

My best to all,
Florida

Good Morning,

Just wanted to tell everyone about the Emerald Princess.......WOW!!!! What a ship!!! It is an absolutely beautiful ship and it is huge. We stayed overnight as Princess' guests. It was without a doubt a very lovely weekend. Everything was complimentary. They put us up in a mini-suite and since we were pierside the whole time, we were fortunate to get a room on the starboard side looking out over the water and the city of Ft. Lauderdale. The weather was rainy (wouldn't you know....hasn't rained in a long time and it picks that weekend to do so) but it didn't spoil the fun! We tasted the foods in both specialty restraunts and we had a full dinner in one of the Anytime Dining Rooms. The food was superb! The decor is very tastefully done and is absolutely beautiful. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. Your every wish was their command. They have a new area called the Sactuary. It is an adults only area that is set aside for quiet and reflection. It is so nice. It is on the 16th deck and one can have a massage, just sit and relax or swim in the aromatherapy pool. There is a jaquzzi there too. There is a service charge for it, but it is well worth it. It is $10 for a half day. You can not book into it in advance as of yet, but can do it once you get on the ship. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the crowds and just chill out! I know that I will take advantage of it when we sail on the Emerald, Dec. 16th. I hope that anyone that is booked on this ship enjoys it as much as I did on my brief visit. It is truely a GRAND ship! Be sure to take your walking shoes....my feet still hurt! Oh, the ice cream stand has a wide array of ice cream with lots of toppings, but I found that the ice cream itself had no real taste....all I could taste were the toppings. I would definitely not pay for it!! The pizza was very good. We didn't have enough time to eat or try everything that was available. All in all, it was absolutely wonderful. Only 48 days till my cruise on the Emerald.
My warmest regards,
Florida
