Okay, I loved Samana, went on a motorcycle cart with DH, SIL,BIL. went up to a mountain it was absolutely beautiful. Yes, there was extreme poverty but I wouldn't have missed the waterfall.

Depending upon your interests, you may or may not enjoy spending time IN Samana. If you’d like to see how Dominicans live and work, Samana is a nice place to do it. The “public market”, where you can buy food, clothes, fruit trees, CD’s, tools, and more, is quite interesting. And Samana is a jumping off point for several worthwhile excursions, again, depending upon your interests. One of my favorites is a small beach, La Playita, in Las Galeras, a picturesque fishing/tourist village nearby. A 30 minute cab ride allows beautiful views of the ocean, and colorful Dominican homes and gardens. At the beach, you’ll can swim or rent snorkeling equipment or a lounge chair then have a delicious lunch of freshly caught fish at one of the prettiest beaches in the country.
