Question Aerial Tram ... How Safe?

How safe would you feel taking an Aerial Tram in Dominica?

Some cruise lines are offering this as an excursion ... and, feel sure, it could be done independently as well.

Does anyone else feel a bit worried about being suspended by a cable hundreds of feet in the air in a 3rd World country?

Only hope Dominica takes better care of its tram than it does its roads!

    LuLu,

I'd feel as safe as doing a zipline, which I would do!

You could always plan to go and then take a look at the cables, cars, etc. and make your decision once you can see those things up close and personal.

I think the Aerial Tram there is fairly new, things I've come across when I was researching Dominica said it opened Oct. 2003 and the company that installed/built it also is the owner/operator of the one in Costa Rica.

Oh and I should probably also mention that I did go on the Aerial Tram in Barcelona and absolutely loved it, aside from the crowding impacting my kodak moments so these types of things are part of the adventure for me

Judy, there are lots of things I'd feel perfectly comfortable doing in Spain ... that I would NOT in Dominica.

The Rainforest Aerial Tram tour is super! The same company has several locations. Visit www.rainforestrams.com

If you don't visit the site by clicking on the entry above, be sure to note that there's only one "t".

My traveling companion and I have taken this excursion in Dominica and Costa Rica. Very professionally done, superbly trained guides, who know about what you're looking at, as well as local geology, geography, history, etc., etc., etc.

I have absolutely zero qualms about safety. Still, if you do have concerns about heights, then I'd probably suggest that you stay on terra firma!
