Thumbs up Best Snorkleing & Diving @ Dominica

If you want a great thing to do on Dominica my recommendation
would be get a taxi to take you to Champagne Reef.
I am a certified scuba diver and we saw more marine life
by snorkleing at this location than I ever had scuba diving.
It is not a beach with sand but it is rocks entry and black sand
after you get out about waist deep.
This is a very clear visibility and bubbles coming out of the ocean
floor which makes it very warm water with abundant marine life.
If there for the first time you can hire a guide (J.T.) and he will
point out the sea life that the normal person would not see. Like
seahorses, flounder, eels, rays, lobster, octopus, squid, schools of
varieties of fish you would not believe.
To get there from the ship just hire cab driver to take you there
as we had 4 of us for 30 dollars roundtrip ea. and you don't pay till
he brings you back to the ship. Air condition van that would hold
8 passengers so the 4 of us had plenty of room and he also took
us to some photo ops of the island along the way. When we got
to the location of the reef he asked us what time to come back
and pick us up and he was johhny on the spot getting us back to
the ship with time to spare.
There is a little bit of a walk to get to the beach reef but it
is along a wood walkway for the snorklers.

For Divers the web site is www.iriesafari.com and tell them
you heard about it from Charlie on CruiseLineFans. And you can
email them at underwater@iriesafari.com You will not be disappointed.
If you have any other questions I will be glad to answer.
BTW the guide only works for tips so you decide what to give him.
I got my moneys worth and you will too.

Thank you very much for your info on Champagne Reef.

While I"ve seen it by land, I've never been in to snorkel. My concern would be going down all of those rocks to get into the water.

Do hope to be able to do this at some point via catamaran ... just jump off and enjoy.

You will not be disappointed and the rocks are not that bad.

In all my snorkling and diving its the best and the water
    very warm.

Everyone should see the marine life at Champagne Reef.

    Tell JT we said Hi!!
