Question Whale Watching; Captain Jerry Reviews

We'll be in Dominica Sept. 11th 2009 and want to do a Whale Watching Tour. I was looking for a private tour vs. the cruiseline's crowded excursions and came across some reviews for Captain Jerry of IslandStyle Fishing on another website; not cruise related but land tour reviews. All of these were 5 Star amazing reviews, even if whales were not seen. Unfortunately, there were only 5 reviews total

I'm wondering if anyone has heard of Captain Jerry of IslandStyle Fishing and/or used him for a Whale Watching Tour OR a Deep Sea Fishing Tour since he also offers charters for that.

The other company I contacted was Dive Dominica, but I have not heard back from them yet. While waiting I've done some detective work and it appears that Dive Dominica is the operator that Royal Caribbean uses for their Whale & Dolphin Safari tour so I'd rather stay away from the crowds.

We were supposed to do Dive Dominica on a private tour before I got Noro. From the people who went, it was amazing. They generally only do tours on set days but they made an exception for us since we had a group.

I've seen some really positive information on Diva Dominica and I'm really bummed that they are Royal Caribbean's operator, as I imagine a lot more people being onboard their boat vs. Captain Jerry's.

Whale watching does not seem to be THE excursion in Dominica. I guess with the rainforest, waterfalls, and tubing available, they seem to be more the excursions of choice according to what I've been reading.

It is really hard to decide. Whales congregate around that area so it is possible to see large numbers of different types. But then, the rain forest also looks interesting.

We chose whales because we missed them when were were in St. Johns (Newfoundland)

The rainforest does look very interesting. We were in Costa Rica before and got to see a small part of theirs on a zipline tour. The whale watching is our preference.

If we got back with enough time, I wouldn't mind trying to get to Trafalgar Falls to see that; but I understand that particular area can become packed! I'm hoping by the time we'd get there it would be after the mob has left so a quick 2 hour taxi tour would be a possible option.
