    Talking Disney Dream - February 2, 2012

I just booked this one. This will be my 15th DCL cruise, first on the Dream. I'm solo and doing a "magical porthole" room on Deck 9. I need to conserve right now because my best friend and I are splurging in April on the new Fantasy (in a Cat. T Concierge suite), so no verandah for me this time! Hopefully Crush and friends will swim by often enough to keep me entertained.

Is anyone else here on this sailing?

UPDATE: I upgraded AGAIN. We are now CAT. T suite!

Your best friend is a "maybe" on this cruise! Also a Cat 11A solo right next door to you.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you are able to go.

Yeah, this sort of feels like a "shoestring" cruise - haha - but honestly, I really AM looking forward to experiencing that "Magical Porthole" technology just once!

Well, I did some serious thinking this morning. Since Holly canceled and I didn't want to find myself sitting in my room staring at the magical porthole for hours, today I upgraded from my Cat. 11A virtual porthole room to a Cat. V Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, on Deck 12. And yes, I am still traveling solo, but that contributed to my decision.

I still have Palo dinner booked for early the second night.

Big room for one person! But there is nothing better than sitting on the veranda of any ship just looking at the water. Pure indulgence.

I am still Cat. V but am no longer solo. The difference in price between one and two adults was so minor that now my friend Holly is back on this cruise. She'll be sharing the Cat. V with me, so I won't have a solo Concierge trip report after all.

Nice to hear. It is always better to be with someone and even nicer to not have to pay the single's surcharge.

I was already paid in full, so it was only a matter of the itty bitty price difference - lol. Let's just say this is pretty much her present for her birthday and Christmas - which in her case are on the same day.

I generally don't mind going solo, but it IS nice to have a friend to chat with about shipboard observations. You'd have to know us to understand what I mean.

Totally! I like to think I'm the guy that friends will occasionally "subsidize" - because I bring the FUN!

All this talk about cruises, ships, destinations - which ones are best, not the best - are really secondary. In the end, cruises are reallly the most social form of vacation - and there's no better way to enjoy one than with a close friend - no matter the relationship. I'm excited you're BOTH going to be able to create some new memories aboard the Disney Dream.

Is there something specific you two are both looking forward to?. A meal at a restaurant? Activity? The cabin? Show?.

Great to hear you're getting excited! Have a great weekend!
