Not looking forward to anything specific - just seeing the Dream before the Fantasy.

Even though Holly and I live maybe a couple of hours from each other, we only see each other a few times per year at most, if we both get to WDW on the same days. I talked her into a Disney Magic cruise back in January '07 and she hasn't done one since. She booked a few but had to cancel.

I've gone solo a lot because my husband does NOT cruise. I've also taken my mom a few times, and my grown nephew once. But I have to emphasize that solo CAN be a wonderful experience - to truly get away. Still, traveling with a friend or friends is fun also. And in Holly's case, she'll get to see the Dream. We are both looking forward to that.

It is possible to do things solo and to have fun but it is 100 times better when you can be with someone you know and can share experiences and the joy of watching them enjoy something.

The problem with cruises - and so many activities- is that they are designed for couples or groups and do not have the opportunities for people to meet for the first time. On our second segment of our B2B we were initially seated with three ladies who were part of a group who get together twice a year, who really wanted to be with the other members of the group, and who were primarily interested in seeing what each other had done over the last six months. They were pleasant enough, but their interests in each other overrode their interest in meeting others. Singles usually find this attitude in spades.

I did note on Celebrity that there is a singles meet and greet every day, but you really have to look for the announcements to see them.

DCL has meets (usually over lunch) for combination singles/solos/single parents. I have never felt the need to attend, as even solo I am busy enough on the ship and know several Cast Members/crew and guests.

Singles are different from solos. I've been married nearly 22 years and am not looking to "hook up" with anyone - lol. I think some people are not cut out for cruising solo. For others, like me, it can be a real pleasure. On the other hand, sailing with a friend, especially one as crazy as I am, does usually mean more FUN around the ship, and that's the plan for THIS cruise.

On my last cruise, DCL messed up and my linked dining with a family of friends fell through. Because I was booked solo, they sat me with a table of singles. It was a far from ideal situation, but highly amusing. There was one very unusual woman who only occasionally showed for dinner and whom I kept seeing around the ship looking like a lost sheep. Twice I had to give her directions to her stateroom because she truly was LOST, even on the next to last day. THAT is the type who should NOT be cruising solo!

Maybe on a VERY, VERY small ship?

Good point about the differentiation between single and solo. Far different expectations, wants, and needs!

Cost went down so we're movin' on up!

We will now have a Cat. T suite on this one! Very happy about that, as we'll know what to expect with the Cat. T on the Fantasy in April.
