Unhappy Too bad no casino on DCL!

It's too bad that they don't have a casino on Disney Cruise Line...It's my DH's favorite part of cruising. I managed to drag him (almost literally!) on a Disney Cruise but it won't happen again. Unfortunately, he's one of those who feels without a casino, there's nothing to do!

Yes it is a shame!! And they have so many other adult things to do. Strange!!:thumbsdow
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

My DH loves casinos too. I bet if our nieces or nephews insisted he go on DCL, he would and he would enjoy it, but it would never be his idea.

That is the one and only reason that we are not looking at their cruises. I know it would be wonderful for the kids, but we like casinos too. Seems like that is part of the fun!

As far as I've seen so far, all the other cruise lines have plenty for the kids to do, so I think that is the better choice for us.

I have to add that DCL does make it's deck with the bars/nightclubs "off limits" to kids under 18 after 11pm....

When we went to Atlantic City the kids were allowed in the hotel of course...but not in the casino. They could walk right by it and see it but couldnt take one step inside.

It wouldnt be hard to keep it very segregated.

It is just a policy they follow to not have them. I do not expect that to change.
In the early days of cruising the Caribbean and Mexico there was not much of a casino on the ships, just a few slots and no table games.

OK, I'll just add my 2 cents worth to stir the pot a bit.

What is the attraction of DCL? It is Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Goofy, and all things "kiddy" and Disney. I think gambling and this concept are mutually exclusive. I know, I know, the kiddies won't be in the casinos. At least not with responsible parents.

I do not gamble, but I am by no means a Puritan. I rather enjoy going into the casinos onboard ship and people watching therein. But if gambling is a major or even a primary factor in why you cruise and you are taking the kiddies, then there are other cruise lines that will cater more closely to your desires.

Let the kids enjoy the innocence that DCL offers.

BTW, I would never cruise on DCL as I consider it an overpriced extension of the Disney amusement centers.

John, I haven't done Disney, but I don't have any children. THose who do and have taken children on one of these cruises say that you are paying for a phenomenal children's program, much better than you would find on the other lines. And I agree, that with the focus on children, having a casino might not fit. It seems that Disney focuses on ways to spend money on children - and children have a way of getting what they want!

My step monster won't go on DCL with us either. My dad would love to go, but she won't go on a ship without a casino. We tried to talk him into going without her, but he won't. There is so much programming for adults plus adult only pool that is completely away from the kids and the nightlife is really fun with several different bars, that we didn't miss the casino at all.
