    Disney is coming to Galveston

Just saw the latest Disney schedule and they are now coming to Texas with cruises out of Galveston to the Western Caribbean. Looks really interesting for Galveston to be getting a Disney ship, but the prices -ouch! $1800 for an inside cabin. $2800 for a veranda.

Yes - I'm very sad that the Magic is not coming back to Port Canaveral as her home port (since I live an hour from the port) after next spring. New York and Galveston! That leaves Floridians with only the two very crowded new ships if we want to sail with Disney. I think it would have been nice to have one new and one classic ship here instead. But it will give New Yorkers and Texans a chance to sail DCL without the long commute. The prices ARE high and continue to rise regularly!

I think it is a great sign in the cruise industry overall that the "better" ships are being ported to some of the secondary ports. Galveston is really growing in popularity as can be seen by RCL and Carnival having renewed interest in the port. Now if only Celebrity would return here.

I agree that it's a great sign. I'm only complaining that since DCL only has 4 ships total (unlike all the long-established lines), those of us who want to sail DCL out of Florida will be stuck with 4,000 passengers. No other options. The decision to expand to other ports is good, but moving the Magic out means no real choices for DCL fans here.

And the Crown Princess is coming, once again, not cheap .. but at least we are going to have some choices in 2012.

I think a lot of people are happy to see a couple of new cruiselines out of Galveston. We have been underserved.

I think Disney is using the cautious approach of using its smaller ships out of the new ports. It knows it can fill the ships out of Florida.
