Question Casinos

Will Disney ever have Casinos on any of their ships?

Does the lack of having a casino make it less likely you'll take a Disney cruise?

It doesn't seem to hinder the bookings!

We used to frequent the casinos on the ships to play the slots. Used to be fun, but when you put $20 in and don't even hit one little payout it blunts your interest in the casino. We may play once or twice but if the slots are tight we don't throw our money away.

Not having a casino would not keep us from cruising with Disney if they had a decent price! So far, the fares have been too much higher than Celebrity or Royal Caribbean to tempt us.

It's doubtful I'd go without a casino although it would be better- but their fares are too high too.

No way, Lulu! Besides gambling, I like to drink and I don't want to trip over any of those little rug rats that will be running all around the ship. I could hurt myself

Thought of taking DGD on a Disney cruise, but the lack of a casino squashed that idea.

The reason it doesn't hinder the bookings is supply and demand. They only have 2 ships to service all of the people who would like to take a Disney cruise, and there are many of them. After visiting Disney World this summer, I can tell you that the mouse is doing fine. In this economy, there are still A LOT of people willing to spend lots of money on the Disney experience.

Also, one of the reasons the price is sooooo high, is to make up for the revenue they do not receive from the casino and the lower than average alcohol purchases made by adults onboard.

Personally, I would not sail Disney for the reasons already given; no casino and high cost. Even if the cost came down, I still like to have a casino when I'm cruising.

Lightbulb Not my cup of tea

If they did add casinos, they'd lose me as a customer.

I just don't think that a casino on a Disney ship would be a good fit. It is not in line with the Disney family cruise experience.

If children are the focus of your vacation, I don't know that a casino is necessary.

However, I think if we had a child that HAD to go to a Disney park or cruise, we would choose a park. I have friends who started drinking VERY early on Disney cruises as opposed to other ships, because there were so many undisciplined kids running around, and it was the only way they could relax. For some reason, parents on ships do not keep their kids in line as much as they do on land. (I'm not sure I would drink more, but I might spend more money in the spa!)
