    Good question!
Then, again, Disney World isn't exactly a bargain... regular one day rates for two adults and one child under 10 run over$200.00, just to walk through the gate... nevermind drinks, food, or a trinket!

Well, many people ask this. You are paying for the "Disney" experience. They offer the soft drinks for free, and there is no gambling onboard, which would bring in revenue.

Their cruises are done Disney Style...and are a good product. They have something that no other cruiseline has...Disney! There are characters onboard and they are plentiful. In the kids programs, they have characters attend reading and story time sessions...Tea with Wendy, Story time with Belle...Goofy hosts a slumber party, etc....

    Essentially...."because they can"

My families first cruise was on the Wonder. Our 2 kids were ages 14 and 11. We absolutly loved it.. It was just as clean and new looking as you would expect anything Disney. I realize that they are more expensive than the rest. As with anything Disney, you get what you pay for.. One couple with children at a table one evening were talking about the differences and said it was hands down more "Family Friendly" with Disney. And I would have too agree,, we never really did see our 14yr old son very much.. He was always off with his teen group and having a blast..

Exactly my sentiments. We had a wonderful time on Disney. DD loved the princesses not found on any other cruise. The shows were top notch Disney productions. We really enjoyed Castaway Cay their wonderful private island. Great for families who with kids who believe in the magic of Disney.

Why does any cruise line cost more than another? Bottom line is quality. The better the quality, the more you pay. As one person said, you get what you pay for. This is true in anything you buy.

Disney has a very good quality product, period.

And as was pointed out, they do not nickel and dime you to death with sodas and they do not have casinos, which brings in big profits for other cruise lines.

Of course, the next question people ask is; is it worth it? And that's really up to the user - if it provides a great experience to you and everyone had a wonderful time, then it's worth it.

My 89-year old mom went on Disney and absolutely loved it! She's not real steady on her feet, so she was really happy with the fact Disney has a pier on their private island, so she didn't have to take a tender, as is the case with every other cruise line. So, in her case, it was very well worth it.

That's true even with Disney. I forget which ship, but one of them was sailing transatlantic right before our Carnivel cruise....docked in Port Canaveral the same day we left. Bob found an astonishing price for that T/A and if we could have swung it we would have been on it. $750 for a balcony cabin!!! I guess folks aren't into Disney T/As yet.

Months ago, I did a quick check on fares for the Mexican Riviera cruise this summer. The fare for the Disney ship was twice as much as for Carnival. And it seems you can often find a great deal for Carnival. So is Disney worth twice as much as Carnival if you don't live and breath Disney? Does Disney ever discount their cruises or do they just always sell out all their cabins?
