RCCL Radiance of the Seas ... Icy Strait/Hoonah, Alaska

NOTE: Heard from RCCl special needs department. The ramp from the tender up to the dock is too steep for a wheelchair. This is a tender only port.

RCCL Radiance of the Seas .... Sitka, Alaska

If water/weather is bad, they will not allow wheelchair onto the tender. This is a tender only port. If waters are calm, the tender and the dock area are wheelchair accessible.

I recommend the "limited Mobility" shore excursions that are able to be arranged in MANY parts of the world for many ports of call (organized by region and then port of call) by an online company called "Shore Trips".

Their website is Welcome to ShoreTrips® - Your Guide to Shore Excursions. Please take a look at their offerings.

I do not know what I would have done if I had been forced to limit my own 77-year-old handicapped mother's shore excursions to the SINGLE group one that was available through the cruise line itself on our Exotic Eastern Caribbean cruise on Carnival Triumph that departs from Miami later this month.

The tour company Shore Trips "saved the day".

Because of the fairly reasonable shore excursions that are available through "Shore Trips" I now cannot wait to go on THREE PRIVATE well-rounded, unrushed, deliciously historical, delightfully zoological, and distinctlly Caribbean shore trip on the islands of St. Thomas, USVI, Puerto Rico, and Grand Turk and have my elderly mother with very limited mobility (manual wheel chair is always used at home) also have a PERFECTLY wonderful time too!

The group non-handicapped shore excursions offered by "Shore Trips" are not more expensive than those that are booked through the cruise line.

The private non-handicapped tours and the private handicapped tours available through "Shore Trips" ARE more expensive, but private touring is always going to be more expensive.

I am totally excited that we have been able to book THREE 4+ hour-long PRIVATE and limited mobility ACCESSIBLE tours of these three islands at ANY price!

    Happy Sails

I have been doing LOTS of research on Hawaii, and have even set up a blog. I have found a great deal of information about handicap accessible excursions, etc. Here's the link to my blog, it will show all posts as of the date you click on it (it will have the most current information on the top as a result).
