You know, I am not sure I ever saw grits on the ship.. Except in one of the dinner dishes.....
Usually when I travel, I sleep through breakfast and Mom brings back a muffin or bagel for me to eat in the hotel room. But sometimes I have eaten breakfast in the dining room, where there would be a hot buffet with eggs, pancakes, saussage, etc. On a cruise ship i do not want to be eating at the buffet while the ship is docking, so if I have a balcony, I will eat there on port days.
On the Carnival Sensation, I will eat a big brunch at the buffet before debarking at 12:00 so I won't be hungry after the first two hours I swim at Aquaventure.
I always have a sizable breakfast and skip lunch on sea and land days.
Typically cereal with fruit on top. then French toast with sausage and coffee.
If on Celebrity then black pudding gets in there somehow.

We hit the buffet and have the generic eggs n' bacon. Once we went to the MDR for breakfast and I got a make-your-own burger.
I usually have some sea food salad or sea food pasta which is my favourites and thinking of it my mouth is already waterish.
Seafood pasta for breakfast? Interesting. My wife has never gotten used to my eating salmon, smoked fish, and kippers which I love for breakfast.
My standard breakfast on board is
A half a grapefruit
Smoked salmon plate, hold the bagle, extra cream cheese
Pastry with butter
Earl Grey Tea
Diet Coke
