    select dining seating

In June my wife and our 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter will be taking our first cruise on Celebrity Summit,we opted for the select dining because we plan to do a lot of snorkeling and did'nt want to be held to a certain dining time.My question is:do they try to seat you with ppl in your age group or whatever is open?and does anybody feel awkward being seated in the middle of someone else's meal?

You don't need to worry about interrupting someone's meal! You will be seated at a fresh table. It works like a land based restaurant in that you are seated with your party...but on the ship there is the possibility that if someone else is waiting for a table they may ask if you would like to share...but that isn't the norm. It might happen if there is a wait time before new tables will open up.

Haven't been on Celebrity, but did have the equivalent type of dining (called Anytime Dining) on Princess. We were always asked if we wanted to share a table or have one by ourselves. We always said "shared," so we don't have to wait as long (usually once we got to the front of the line, we were usually taken to a table, except for one formal night when we were given a pager). But once we were taken to a table, where one couple was already seated, and had already ordered. So it was strange as we and another couple were playing catch up. Don't know why this happened unless the head waiter was just trying to fill tables as much as possible.

Hopefully, we'll be able to return to traditional dining as we didn't care for anytime.

When we sailed on RCCL and NCL this was exactly what we experienced. All seated at the same time, all ordered at the same time.

You've picked a good option! It's great not be rushed after an active day in port!

Other nights, you may want to have dinner earlier ... like the the night before an active day in port.
