    Painted Desert?

    Painted Desert on Grand Princess
It will be my husbands birthday while we are on the Grand Princess. He doesn't really like Italian Food, so decided against Sabatini's. Is there another steak house that you would recommend? Does the extra charge include the tip?

I read Painted Desert is Tex-Mex. If he likes that, great, but I personally hate Mexican food no matter where it comes from. For the life of me I will never understandf how someone can hate Italian food. Except for chocolate, pasta is my all-time favorite!

What about eating in a dining room or splurging on UBD on his birthday?

Painted Desert is what Grand Princess calls Sterling's Steakhouse. The food is the same as Sterling's on any other Princess ship. In fact, the menu we were given on Grand in Painted Desert had "Sterling's" written on it. My DH had their porterhouse once and the large filets twice.

No extra tip is required but we always do.

Yonnie, I also feel the name will be changed when renovated. In February they were using the Sterling's Steakhouse menu.

There is no longer the Sterling Steakhouse at Painted Desert on the Grand Princes. It is now the Crown Grill since the refurbishment that was completed on May 4, 2011.

The Crown Grill, and the tip is additional. Below is the menu.

    GREAT NEWS!

We've had dinner at the Crown Grill on both Emerald and Crown and always very much enjoyed. Glad it is now also on Grand.

LuLu, we've enjoyed the Crown Grill on both Crown and Ruby Princess. It's a 'must do' when we cruise Princess.

Nolw I am totally confused. Did Princess change the Painted Desert's name or replace it with something else? I remember it was Tex-Mex when my sister was on the Grand 10 years ago and did not really start researching Princess ships until last year.

I noticed the Sapphire still tuses the name Sterling Steakhouse. Is that just a different name for Crown Grill or does it have a slightly different menu?
