For some time now, I have been lamenting the elimination of Chilled Cucumber soup from the royal Caribbean Menu. It was my all time favorite.
Carnival still offers it, but, unless the chef wa having an bad time the night they offered it, theirs is really sub-par: it was room temperature, tasteless, and as thin as water.
HOWEVER
I now find that all may not be lost, after all!
On the Emerald Princess last week, I found a real treat: Chilled Pumpkin Soup.
It was really, really yummy!
During the main course, the waiter came to ask how my sallops were, and I replied "They are fine, but the Pumpkin Soup was much better. So, he brought me another bowl of soup, at which point, I surrendered my remaining scallops, which was most of them.
Does anyone else find the Chilled Pumpkin Soup on Princess just wonderful, or am I in the minority?
Oh,, dear!
I just had a rather disconcerting thought - It's probably a seasonal dish, in shich case, you'll not be able to enjoy it year round!
Probably not, Sheila. There are a number of chilled soups available on cruise liners now. I had a few on the Carnival Imagination in August and they were very good. They were Chilled Tomato, Strawberry, and Mango Soup. I'll look out for the Pumpkin Soup when I'm on the Ruby Princess in December.

Pumpkins are still generally available during December
We'llhave to see if they offer it in, say, April or June to know if it's available year round.
Gosh, am I the only one who does NOT like cold soup?
