No, this was during the Michel Roux tenure. It's been a couple of years at least since I saw the rutabaga chilled soup on the menu and Michel Roux has only been gone 2 years.

I, too, am not a fan of chilled soups.

A hot soup, however, on a cold day, can be wonderful.

We just returned from Austria and we enjoyed their HOT pumpkin soup very much!

They put toasted pumpkin seeds on the bottom and they drizzled pumpkin oil on top. Yummy! By the way, these were cream soups, something I would NEVER eat at home!!! But we walked it off!

PS Dessert was usally apple strudel!

And that is perfect food for a nice cold day. We have gotten hooked on the Harry and David soups. They are great.

What's a Harry & David soup?

We have a Harry and David at our local mall, but haven't been in except when they first opened. I didn't realized they sold soups. But since I'm not a big soup fan, I guess I'm not missing anything.

I make soup often in the winter. I buy a bag of diced mixed veggies, add a couple of sweet potatoes, chicken-flavoured powder (low sodium), herbs de provence (I love the scent!). When cooked, I blend in the pot with my wonderful hand blender. Et voila! Yummy, healthy soup!

Here is a link to their order page. We especially like their fajita chili. It really hits the spot on a cold day.

Rudi Sodamin, who used to be in charge of Royal Caribbean's food has moved to Hollland America. I think he took some of his chilled soup recipes with him. The only one I had that I do NOT recommend was a Blueberry yogurt soup. I liked both the sweet and savory soups.

BTW, for those of you who can find cans of gazpacho, put those cans in the fridge and then you can have a chilled soup at home!
