Thread: HAL - Alaska Fixed Dinner Times?

Have heard/read that HAL has different dining times for Alaska for Early and Main seating. Does anyone know the actual times? Also saw that on a recent New England cruise the times were 5:15 and 7:30. Know that they offer AYWD as well, but we prefer set time and table. Thanks!

Yes -- the Maasdam does have different dining times -- 5:15 and 7:30 for traditional dining. This was started back in August when it was discovered that very few people were attending the shows at 7 and 9 PM. I can tell you that on our Westerdam cruises in April and May, we literally had to woof down our food to get to the 7 PM show since we had traditional dining at 5:45. We even skipped dessert -- no big deal there. We didn't mind when the shows were at 8:30 -- had plenty of time to get to it -- and the shows were over by 9:30 -- giving us a chance to have a cocktail before retiring for the night. We are early risers -- DH is up by 5 and in the gym at 6. So staying up late is just not for us. With the 9 PM show, we tried it once -- it didn't start on time -- we didn't get out of there until 10:15 -- getting too late for a cocktail and to get to bed at a decent hour.

On all of our Alaskan cruises, the traditional dining times were 5:30 and 7:45. Even the Pinnacle opens at 5:30 in Alaska. We have been on several different ships in Alaska.
