Can you not bring a bottle to your room without being searched? It is our 26th anniversary and we were going to bring booze and bottle of Don P that someone gave us. Now we find out that we can only purchase on ship and there is a corking fee of $25.00 for the Don P. Can anyone give us an insight on this. We are not drunks, just looking forward to that celebritory evening cocktail toast.......thanks.

So where did the $80 figure come from? I didn't see $80 mentioned in the alcohol policy.
Julie, the $80 is for a bottle of liquor, not wine. That is the cost for a set up in your cabin that you can purchase as a bon voyage gift prior to the cruise.

They were planning to bring booze AND the Dom P.

If the $80 is for a bottle of Dom P then I'll take two!!

But seriously, here is why I was confused: UpandAway said "We are flabergasted at $80.00 per standard bottle (we are guessing quart) of liquor charged by Celebrity in order to have alcohol in our room..."

And that sounded a lot like there is an $80 charge to have alcohol in the room. Not specifically to buy a bottle, just to have it in the room. Which might apply to the bottle they were bringing from home. Right?

I see your point Julie! Being familiar with Celebrity practices and policies (having sailed them more than 20 times) I knew exactly what she was talking about. You are accustomed to having these things readily available to you on the higher end cruise lines that you sail on.

Hi Char, Celebrity does charge pretty high, for that set up, but as another poster said, if you figure in what it would cost to buy each drink from the bar, it would cost a lot more.

So eat drink and enjoy, life is too short to worry about the small stuff.

Wow, Char, you've sailed with Celebrity over 20 times?? That's amazing!

I didn't know about the Celebrity set-up fees or liquor packages. In fact, until a couple of days ago I had never even heard those terms. We sail on our FIRST Celebrity cruise next month...and now I at least know what to expect in that regard. Thanks for making it clear!

Taking our 35th cruise in Nov. on the Celebrity Solstice maiden voyage!!
As far as liquor goes, the ships don't want you bringing so much on that you're not buying on the ship. We always take a bottle of Grand Manier or B & B with us to enjoy on the balcony at night. If you go into port & buy liqour, they'll usually let you bring 1 bottle back on with you. I just put it in my tote bag & they never say anything. If you have boxed up liquor or more than 1 bottle they'll take it & store it.
