    Diamond Princess

Do any of you have any experience with Diamond Princess? Considering Mexician Riveria for fall 0f 06. It will my husband and I with our son, who will be 16 months when we cruise. How are the balcony rooms compaired to the mini suites? Shoud we spend the extra $ for the mini suite???

    Thanks,
    Kerri

    Hi Kerri,

I have been on the Diamond twice and I would highly recommend a mini-suite if you can swing it. The extra room, and the nice bathroom with tub are really worth the extra $$, especially for 3 of you. You will love the ship; she's a real beauty. I am going on the Mexican Riviera cruise this November on the Sapphire and really looking forward to it.

I think you will like the ship. If you've been on the Italian versions of the Grand-class, I think you'll find that there was a little more attention to detail since the Diamond was built in Japan. Definitely, a minisuite is worth the extra money.

We were on the Diamond Princess in June and I loved the ship! More than I expected to. The children's centeris wonderful if your little one will be old enough by then to go there. The entertainment, food and everything were great and we loved the Anytime Dining. We've been on Princess 14 times and lots of other cruise lines and it was sure good to be back on Princess! Any other questions you have will be glad to answer. I don't think you can go wrong with this ship.

    Thanks for the info...
We are trying to decide between the Diamond Princess and NCL Star. Both are cruising the Mexican Riveria. We just can't decide between the different cruise lines. Any input would be great. We have cruised both RCCL and Carnival in the past.

My wife and I did the Mex Riv in March on the Diamond. Loved the cruise other than March is not the time of year to do the Riv if you like going in the water. We found the Diamond to be a great ship with several chioces of themed dinning rooms. Each had the same general menu as well as their spcialty. I belive you'll like the trip.

As to the Diamond rooms. We usually get a mini, however this time we decided to try to econimize by getting a balcony (getting close to retirment). We were not in any way disappointed. There was plenty of space for us to the room and balcony. And, I only had one wrestling match with the shower curtain. I tell you this with the understanding that our trip was just my wife and I. It's been over 22 years since I had to deal with bathing and living in a room with a 16 mounth old. That being said, I think the mini will be best for you.

If you have specific questions about the trip or the ship, don't hesitate to ask

    Coffee card still in use?

We are going on the Diamond Princess next year. We sailed on the Sun Princess 3 years ago and they operated a system of coffee cards, where you prepaid at a discount rate and they clipped your card each time you drank a speciality coffee. Is this system still in operation?
