    Curacao

Is the shopping area very far from where the ship docks? Is it walkable?

At one time it was VERY easy. They've added a new dock for cruise ships ... so ... it might mean a taxi drive ... depending on where your ship docks.

Worth it! Very pleasant place to walk around and shop!

The last several times HAL ships have docked at the International pier which is newer but on the ocean. We have walked it to town - takes about 20 - 25 minutes. Sometimes longer if we have to wait for the plontoon bridge (Queen Willimia - I think) to close after a ship or freighter passes through.

Check cruisecal to see how many ships are going to be in port on the that you are there.

One time we were there with 2 other cruise ships. Some had to use the docks up the channel.

How large is the ship that you are going to be on??

The larger ships have to be at the International.

HAL docks there because of the fireworks that are put off for them as they leave anywhere from 11 - midnight.

Are there any ships larger than the Sun Princess the day that you are there?

If so -- they will definitely be at the International pier and if there is a HAL ship scheduled on your day -- they should be there as well.

We(Sun Princess) and the HAL Amsterdam and RC Adventurer of the Seas will be there that day. Maybe we will be closer to the shopping?

    Rental Car

Does anyone have any experiences with rental car companies in Curacao? We are considering renting a 12 passenger van from Avis for the day.
