Thread: When 2 Queens Meet pictures!

Hi Everyone!

We went to Long Beach today and boarded the Rocket Boat to cruise out and greet the Queen Mary 2! It was so awesome!

As we cruised past the Queen Mary 1 she was very big and filled with tons of people waving as we went by.

Then way out 1/4 of a Mile was the Queen Mary 2! She looked big but as we cruised closer she grew by leeps and bounds! She was a GIANT! The sight took our breath away!

There was a ring of boundry boats holding a permiter of 1,000 feet from the QM2.
There were 8 or more helicopters, 3 blimps, and hundred of boats cirling her! And right in the middle of all this was a fireboat shooting spouts of water from all 8 fire guns!

At approx. 12:30pm the QM1 sounded here horns, long and steady blows! Then it was QM2's turn to return the sound, long and steady blows that sent chills through my body! At that moment I shed a few tears in honor of these 2 ships greeting each other!

Here is a link to my photo's, I have not had much time to edit them so some may seem like repeats but when your out there with the blaring sun, its hard to tell how they will turn out, so I took and took just incase

I was watching the 5pm news just to see the story...there was one but the greeting between the two ships wasn't shown. Disappointing. (I don't know if they had a longer story at 11am -- I was busy cleaning the house and lost track of time).

Channel 2 had the best review, but none had the sounding of the horns, that was disapointing!

Debbie: thanks for sharing your great photos! What an event! Looks like you had great conditions, too. Of course, that is too be expected in sunny So.Cal.!

Can you say speed boat hehehe 1800HP! Wow it was fast and awesome! We went past the water breakers and took off like a bullet!
