There are tours going to the markets but I don't think we will be taking them. We will just do our own thing.

The ship docks almost in the centre of Hamburg and Oslo so no need for a tour there. We will be staying on the ship in Rotterdam to see Queen Victoria arrive

Hi All
This is our first cruise so any hints and tips will be most welcome. We are looking forward to the markets and want to explore on our own and not sit on a coach all day. Ideas about how to get about in all of the ports and the places to go would be great.

Hi Joe,

In Oslo and Hamburg the ship docks close to the centre so there is not need for a bus or taxi into the centre. I have not been to Rotterdam before, but I understand there will be a shuttle bus into the centre, where you can get a train to Amsterdam. In Zeebrugge there is usually a bus to a near by sea side town, where you can get a train to Bruges.

If you see me onboard say "hi" and I will try to answer any questions you may have.

Warm but wet in Southampton, cold and wet in Hamburg and Cold with snow in Oslo. Not looked at Rotterdam and Zeebruge yet.

I am glad i did not sail this weekend, storm force 10 in the channel!

Hi from the QE2 in Rotterdam.

Cruise did not start well as we missed Hamburg, due to storm force 10 winds and very rough sea, we could not get the pilot onboard. We then spent 2 days getting to Oslo, well we spent most of the second day going around in circles waiting for Artemis to leave so we could come into the cruise ship dock.

Olso was wonderful.

Saw the Queen Vitoria arrive today, not as close as I would have liked, but we could hear her whistle. We replied, QV's whistle is no match for QE2's.

Only one more port

then back home. A week is not long eough.

Did you happen to meet joe t, the guy who posted on this thread? It's his first cruise...hope he comes back and gives us his views
