West Quay is a multi-story shopping complex. Marks & Spencer, John Lewis are department stores and then lots of other stores. There is also a supermarket and of course places to eat.

Tony, fencing and dance are very similar. You will be an expert by the end of your cruise.
Wonder if I should take it up a cruise on the Victoria so I could work on my fencing skills (which are currently at the level of one hour instruction many years ago). Never know when you will be in a sword fight!

I doubt that you will ever get such a good deal as crossing on QM2 and returning on QV for around $ 700 each way (inside). And only two weeks out of your work and at holiday time where you might not have as much work as at other times ?

Yes , I was pleased. I guess since they are not entering the UK proper thay don't have to go through customs.
Hi Tony. I definitely think you would be unable to visit London with the amount of time available.
However, you could take an easy day looking around Southampton. There are plenty of shops, for a start. West Quay is a fairly small shopping centre (mall) compared to those in America, but it has a good variety of shops. Marks and Spencers also has a cafeteria where you can enjoy a cup of British tea and a cake or two, or you could try John Lewis which has a restaurant overlooking the docks. Outside there are lots more stores, including British Home Stores and Primark (our bargain basement store!) etc.
You could also walk down to the Titanic museum, just opposite the docks, which is an interesting place to visit.
You could take a trip to Winchester, but again, it really depends on the amount of time you have - and if the ship sails in the afternoon then I don't think it would be worth the worry of getting back in time. Better to have a more relaxed day in Southampton.
