    Great pictures Norman, thanks.

I shall have to do that one day. The idea of docking at Alexandria and driving hours to see the Pyramids and then driving back the same day is not appealing. A river cruise is what is required. Did you have guides at all the stops as a part of the cruise ? How long did it last ?

We had an Egyptologist with us for the whole week and would be nice to have one around the Pyramids.. The one on the Nile cruise was really good, really knowledgeable about Egypt.

As we wish to see the Pyramids we can suffer the long journey, but we are not going around the Cairo Museum. Taking a ship (not a ship of the desert) from the Pyramids to Cairo. We saw many treasures on our Nile cruise, and as cameras are not allowed in the Museum, decided against going.

It is a very long drive to the Pyramids from Alexandria at high speed with a police escort.

I did this tour in 2005 and then we got a packed lunch the from the Sheraton, sorry can't remember what was in it. Then after the Pyramids and Sphinx and the gift shop, we went to a hotel near by for a buffett. My mother had what they said was "chicken" but is sure it was Pigeon.

With the current unrest in Egypt, I would be reluctant to go. Besides, I can see a lot of Egyptian history in the British Museum where a lot of things are kept.

Africa and the Middle East are always going to be volatile. And on this cruise, will be disappointed if a port call is called off, but if the worse happens we will just accept it as we realise it can happen.

We have been too Morocco four times and Egypt once, it seems awful when you visit somewhere like Casablanca and see all modern buildings. We love the old towns.

When in Africa we always take coloured pencils and crayoning books, plus small packets of sweets. Begging is a way of life, the poor are really poor and to see children’s faces when you give them gifts is absolutely wonderful.

But being in the actual location is a special experience. Standing where the ancients stood etc.

We wanted to do the Transatlantic crossing and as it was our10th wedding anniversary, we decided to treat ourselves. We loved it so much, we went round the Caribbean for my husband's 40th birthday. We love the dress code and the decor. The speakers are very interesting - my favourite was an FBI profiler. We enjoy the Club Dining Room which allows you to arrive for dinner at a time that you prefer. The waiters in the Princess Grill were outstanding and when we left it was the only time I sobbed leaving a ship - they were truly wonderful. I wanted to take them home.
