I had the pleasure of meeting Captain (sorry Commodore) Rynd on board Queen Victoria last week. Yes he was a nice man and a good captain.

I wonder if he gets an extra stripe ? or perhaps it is that curl on his upper strip in the first photogtaph ?
On Cunard the Captain has a double stripe and three single as in the picture of Captain Rynd. The Commodore has one thick stripe as in the picture of Commodore Warner.

And the partially concealed diamond , which probably has some French name since all military uniform 'decorations' seem to come from French.

Cool, it's good to hear all about your different experiences and thoughts on the former and current Commodore's of the Cunard fleet

Ah i didn't notice that, only when you said of course. So it looks like Commodore Rynd would have received a new jacket being the new Commodore.

There's still no sign of that video of the day Commodore Warner retired but once it's published I'll be sure to post it on here so that you all can see it. With the way it's looking it looks like they could publish it on Monday but I'll keep you posted with regards of the video. It should be interesting as they filmed Commodore Warner docking Queen Mary 2 for the last time at the Ocean Terminal in Southampton and of course they'll have more of the events from the day

    No problem

Just within the last hour Peter Shanks posted a blog post "Cunard Bids Farewell to Commodore Warner" and within that post is the video that we have all been waiting for, its about 7 minutes long and includes various scenes from the day Commodore Warner retired from Cunard. Here's the link, hope you all enjoy it as i did YouTube - Cunard Bids Farewell to Commodore Warner

Also here's a link to the blog post from the "We Are Cunard" blog http://wearecunard.com/2011/04/cunar...modore-warner/
