Cunard: Calling All Travel Agents
Peter Shanks, President and Managing Director of Cunard Line, recently announced the cruise line's expanded 2011 program. Speaking at the press conference, Shanks stated, "“One of our core objectives for the trade is to bring more agents into the fold. We will grow by a third with a new ship, so more agents are looking at us a growth opportunity.”
While pricing will be fairly similar to that of 2010, the extended deployment in 2011-12 helped by the introduction of new ship Queen Elizabeth and a consistency of offering should help agents sell more Cunard cruises.
Queen Victoria will be used next year to trailblaze new destinations, such as port-intensive Mediterranean fly-cruises, a voyage from Venice to Fort Lauderdale and a Christmas cruise to Hawaii. Even the transatlantic crossing have been slightly modified to include more days at sea. All but one of the 21 crossings in 2011 will be for seven nights.
Be on the lookout for a write up on the Mediterranean fly-cruises from P&O and Cunard, shortly.
