Queen Mary 2 Breaks Away in Zeebrugge

On the 22nd of July,when the QM2 was calling in Zeebrugge, Belgium, her mooring lines. Reports are that the vessel broke her bow lines from high gusts of wind. The vessel then drifted into the harbor before being helped back with the assistance of local tugs.
Damage is reported, but only as minor, and located in the stern area. Ill update as more becomes available.

"Oh Oh Better Get Maaco" That was an advertising slogan for a chain of automobile body shops called Maaco here in the USA.You know once your car gets dented bring it here to our auto body shops.The hull damage to the QM2 looks minor.Would anyone know if at the QM2's next dry-docking in a few years time would that small section of damaged hull would be replaced with a new small section of hull? I'm sure she is due for a dry docking sometime soon. She's often in. Might even be one this year, I'll try asking about.

Thanks Harry, I know that the QM2 was dry-docked last October into November for a re-fit.Whether Cunard will dry-dock her again this year to repair that small damaged area of hull,I must admit I don't know.Have you ever been aboard the QM2? She is a great ship.Regards,Jerry

No problem, although it might take some time before I heard anything back form the person I'm gonna try and ask.

I've been on aboard QM2, a great ship. It might have only been a tour, but it was an experiance of a lifetime! I was taken around by the designer who I'm in contact with on a regular basis now.

Harry, So you personnally do know Stephen Payne? I did meet him aboard the QM2 in October of 2007 during a transatlantic crossing and he did sign my copy of a book about the glory days of transatlantic ship travel called "The Only Way To Cross" written by John Maxtone Graham.I also did another back2back transatlantic crossing a month ago aboard the QM2 from June 19th to July 1st.And I am booked for another back2back transatlantic crossing aboard the QM2 next April 15th to April 29th.The nice thing about the crossings next April is that both the Eastbound and Westbound crossings are 7 nights long each.Regards,Jerry
