Wink Qm2 Black and White Ball

We're sailing on the QM2 in a couple of weeks. We received our cruise documents yesterday and I noticed one of the formal nights was a Black and White Ball. We are veteran cruisers, but never on Cunard. How strict is this dress code? Does everyone really wear black or white or a combo of both? I need to go shopping - not that I mind!!
Dh will have on a tux, so he is okay. Why is it always easier for men?????

HI Mimimary, I can't speak for QM2 as I have not been on her (yet but only 2 months to go ) On QE2 quite a few people made the effort, which was nice, but really it was only the people who enjoyed dancing. You will not be turned away from the Queens Room if you are not in Black, White or both. But don't tell DH and it's a good excuse for a new dress.

Of course being a man it's easy for me as I would be in black and white anyway.

Welcome mimimary,
Yes, QM2 is strict with the dress code onboard.

July 1st cruise will be our 4th time we will re-join the Mary with many times on the QE2.

Cunard attempts to keep the dress code strict, though some people attempt to slip thru the cracks at time. Yes, we have seen people (men) turned away at the Dining Room doors due to wrong dress and return properly. Those that do not abide by the the code, DO stick out like a Sore Thumb.

Once 5:30-6PM approaches onboard you will see on Formal Nights the majority of people wearing Tux's and those others, Black Suit. Everyone is real great especially it being their first formal night of showing off their best.

The women really come out in all their best on formal nights also. Of course, there will be flocks of photographers wanting to take you photo by different backdrops onboard.

If all cooperates, and majority do, what a beautiful sight onboard walking the hallways especially on Formal Night. It really sets a very special tone onboard.

One of the first formal evenings onboard are the Black & White Ball.

Yes, we will see couples and singles dressed in Black & White combos. Very classy.

The Queens Rooms is the site of the Black & White Balls after the evening dinner around 9:30PM with the full orchestra. Of The Queens Room will be dressed earlier in the day or after tea time with various Black & White pendants for the occasion hanging from the ceiling. The Ball will consist of various Ball Room dances, they will select a Ms Cunard, Dance contests for a prize of champagne and other activities.

Dressed right, you will compliment your gentlemen (dh). Yes, my wife wanted to get the right thing for that evening and did shop before boarding.

Enjoy the Mary, we love sailing on her very much.

The dress code is one of the things I love about Cunard

It's so nice to be able to make an effort and get dressed up.

Final documents - happy days!!!

[quote=mimimary;1347669]We're sailing on the QM2 in a couple of weeks.quote]

Dear Mimimary,
Don't know if you meant Pre-Cruise Documents or Final Documents!

Two (2) days ago, "Happy Days", we received our Final Documents and Luggage Tags.

Very impressed with the Paperless Tickets, now using Bar Codes to scan you on the ship.

Also, must be because of the AA - Britannia Club Rest Class, very nice - fancy priority black/gold luggage tags.

So, we enjoy doing the Doc - U - Dan - Ments Dance, Cha Cha Cha.

So, it won't be that long (about 33 days) to go till we board the Mary.

She is coming in on Sunday, maybe will see her by the shore.

And I will be boarding her on Sunday.
I received the little ticket booklet like always but I noticed there is a small bar code on the back cover with the voyage details.

Dear Linda,
I remember the Old Days when you use to get a pamphlet with many pages that they would have to rip out and stamp on them (copy of the Passenger Ticket for their records).

Of course the terms of the passenger contract and also insurance coverage taken by the passenger was included.

Yes, things have changed since our March 08 cruise last year. This is what's called technology over paper.

Just need this ticket folder, passport, credit card and baggage - you're on a cruise!

What technology is next - Beaming Us On Board from our homes at a Pre Set Time to the Grand Lobby on Deck 2 or even to our cabins?

Wonder if it will be cheaper than airline rates?
