A former QE2 captain who took the ship to the Falklands conflict in 1982 has died.

I had the honour of meeting Captain Jackson a few years ago when he was onboard QE2 as a speaker. He was a very nice man.

He sounds like a very nice man, Stephen. I like this part:
"He had a characteristic thing, he always when he went out gave three blasts on the ship's whistle.

"They were especially for his wife saying 'Ta-ta for now, I'm off, I'll see you when I come back' and when he came back into port he did the same thing. "Three blasts on the ship's whistle was indication that he'd got home."
